Name: Asa Deschain Ghost: Aquila Species: Exo First Ghost Revival: May 18, 20 Years before Six Fronts Place of Birth: Spain Height / Weight: 206 cm (6 ft 7 in) / Weight Unknown Background: // Exo Designate 3A-7 // Guardian-type, Class Titan. The younger brother of Jack Deschain, a Guardian-type Hunter, Asa Deschain is a veteran of the Twilight Gap and a member of the Old Guard. Considered one of the newest additions to the Titan Order of the Pilgrim Guard, Asa sees his service as a Guardian noble in their dedication to protecting civilians and the Last City. // The Dark Age Wishing to keep most of his early history as a Guardian secret from the public, Asa had directed his Ghost to keep all accounts and information twenty years prior to the Battle of Six Fronts redacted. The Vanguard and those closely associated with him are the only ones allowed access to his personal history. However, because of previous accounts made by Jack’s Ghost, Mira, portions of Asa’s early history as a Guardian came into light. For nearly two decades, the newly resurrected Risen was involved in the Warlord Conflict that plagued the Earth and chose to stand against his tyrannical brethren; in an effort to form a team to oppose them, Asa sought out other Risen who were neutral throughout the conflict. Although most turned down his offer in spite, the Exo was joined by an Awoken, Risen-type Hunter named Fuu. For four years, the two Risen traveled across the land, guiding refugees to settlements that were clear of any Warlord threat. Unfortunately, their journey came to an end following the death of Fuu at the hands of Warlord Vilos and his gang. Subsequently, Asa arrived in Blackstone, a settlement on the northeast border of the European Dead Zone and the location of one of his most well-known ventures. Joining the Rogue Academic (Warlock) named Hawke, Asa spent months defending Blackstone against a Warlord faction fractured by the Iron Lords. When they were joined by said Iron Lords, specifically Lord Gheleon and Lady Bretomart, the four man squad backed by Jack – who infiltrated the tyrant’s inner circle before – managed to eliminate the faction in a matter of hours. Further accounts made by Mira mentioned the aftermath of the battle, where Asa proposed to return to Warlord Vilos’ hideout in order to avenge his friend and put an end to him once and for all. Confronting Vilos, Asa challenged him to one-on-one combat – effectively putting a brutal end to him and his followers. // City Age to Present Following their arrival at the Last City five years after Vilos’ death, Asa departed from his party in order to seek answers of what it means to be a Guardian. He spent most of his time participating in the construction of the City’s Walls and later became a member of the First Pillar Order. Sometime prior to the Battle of Twilight Gap, Asa became one of the many students of Lord Saladin Forge – befriending key Titan figures Zavala and Lord Shaxx. In the midst of the Twilight Gap, Asa managed to regroup with Jack, and they spoke of simpler times to keep their minds off the chaos. Cracking a few jokes in order to try to make light of their situation, the brothers promised each other that they will make it out in one piece. In the aftermath of Twilight Gap, Asa rallied with an army of Guardians to follow legendary Titan and Exo Saint-14 in his crusade against the Fallen surrounding the Last City. Shortly thereafter, the Exo Titan returns home and decides to take up a more defensive role – dropping out of the First Pillar and joining the Pilgrim Guard. Sometime before the Battle of Burning Lake and the Great Disaster that followed after, Asa pledge allegiance to the newly established faction of the Future War Cult and following the tremendous loss of life in the aforementioned Great Disaster, he participated in the Crucible in an effort to hone his combat skills. Considered a champion by his competitors, a tired Asa Deschain makes the decision to live a quiet life. He remains in the Last City, patrolling the Walls and guiding refugees toward the City when the Pilgrim Guard needed his help, and learnt how to become a gunsmith – constructing a modified No Land Beyond rifle and a variety of other old-fashioned rifles. This quiet period of time came to an end when Jack assembled a fireteam to raid the Vault of Glass and sought his aid in the adventure. Following their success in the Vault, Asa began to deploy with numerous fireteams in an effort to push back their enemies. In the following years after the Destruction of the Black Garden, Asa would play an active role in the Wolf Rebellion and the Taken War. After a rough mission to neutralize the Taken threat within Tanik’s Ketch, he received news that his brother’s Shadowsmith fireteam were killed on Mars. Although he was relieved that Jack survived the ordeal, Asa put every effort into helping his brother find the woman responsible for the set up. This led him to a group known as the Shadows of Yor, and ever since his first encounter with the fanatics in the Crucible, Asa kept a close eye on their actions whilst monitoring Jack’s wellbeing. Amongst the first Guardians to become Iron Lords of a new generation immediately after the SIVA Crisis, Asa and Jack assembled a fireteam of handpicked Guardians to be their Iron Companions and formed the fireteam known as Noble. For the first time in centuries, Asa felt that there was truly a tomorrow in this Age of Triumph. During the invasion of the Last City, Asa and his fireteam aided in civilian evacuations before they were separated after an aerial bombardment. Whilst Jack left to clear the skies of Cabal fighters and transports, Asa made his way to the Tower with a handful of other Guardians in order to provide Commander Zavala assistance with the last of the civilian evacuations. When their light faded, Asa managed to escape the Last City with the survivors and made his way to the Farm in the European Dead Zone. Psychological Profile: Disciplined, joyous yet acerbic and soft-spoken, these are a few words that others use to describe Asa. He’s as imposing as any other Titan can get, seeing his service as a Guardian noble in their dedication to protecting civilians and the Last City. He’s noted to be calm in crises, using humor to disarm stress during missions, and always placing the safety of his team and charge over his own – constantly striving to make sure those around him are comfortable and is protective of people close to him, which includes his brother despite their constant bickering. With danger being considered the natural habitat of Guardians, Asa has developed a cold acceptance toward the most grisly circumstances presented in a mission or wide-scale operation; when the Great Disaster occurred, his brother expressed his guilt for not participating in the battle. Asa comments that if Jack had been there, he would most likely be dead too. Training: A tactician, Asa takes pride in knowing all of the variables; planning out his missions and assignments carefully and patiently awaiting the right moment to strike. Formerly a military serviceman prior to being converted into an Exo frame, Asa is proficient with a variety of firearms, taking a particular interest in vintage rifles and fusion rifles. He’s also experienced with melee weaponry, solely relying on a variety of swords and axes during his time facing off against Warlords in the Dark Age. In addition to his weaponry skills, Asa is a gifted unarmed combatant and adept when it comes to forging or repairing weapons – picking up on the skill of a gunsmith through Banshee-44’s help in order to conduct field repairs himself should the other Exo not be around. Relevant Experience: • Warlord Conflict • Battle of Twilight Gap • Crusade of Saint-14 • Raid on the Vault of Glass • Wolf Rebellion • The Taken War • SIVA Crisis • Invasion of the Last City Notes (Extra Stuff, Author Notes, etc): Trying to piece this profile together was difficult at first. But I managed to do it and there may be edits made in the near future. For now, I am happy with how this turned out and hope that my brother likes it. So, Asa strangled Warlord Vilos to death. He lifted him off the ground and squeezed… It was not pretty. The No Land Beyond exotic sniper rifle is Asa’s primary weapon. Sometime during the Taken War, Asa would accompany his brother, Jack, to the Reef in order to check up on Petra’s wellbeing following the Queen’s supposed death. There would be times where they will take her post so she can rest. It’s the least they can do for a friend.
