I have had something on my mind for a while. I am black and white and society perceives me in a lot of different ways. I don't know my dad so I can't tell you my exact mix but I know that I get mistaken for white and other times as Mexican (I live in Dallas). Now I know I benefit from passing privilege but often I feel not like a WOC and instead like an ally. Am I just an ally given the privilege I have or not?
If you chose to call yourself a Woman of Color, then you are. Some white-passing PoC chose not to use that term, but it's entirely up to the individual. Having passing privilege gives you many advantages over non-passing PoC, but that doesn't mean you can't/shouldn't claim being Black/part Black/however you personally chose to say it. Having passing privilege doesn't change your heritage, it just affects the way you can perceived (as you noted - white passing is not static, and may be conditional). There's no one way to be a WoC; there are so many identities and cultural ties that fall under that very vast umbrella. The only person that can define you is yourself.
We Are All Mixed Up has a white-passing tag that might be helpful to look through as well.

Aaron's basically just fed up with the whole company. The store he's at now, they don't give breaks on time, if they give them at all, and he overheard a couple store managers saying "oh, why should we give Aaron Thursday off for his wife's Christmas party when he won't come to ours?" (Theirs is the same night and really cheap compared to mine; he told them WEEKS ago about getting tomorrow off.)
So he's fucking had it and is going to the union tomorrow morning to throw them all under the bus. He's also working on getting another job. He's a supervisor with King's and makes decent money but the company itself, since it's owned by the soulless corporation that is Kroger, doesn't give two squirts of piss about its employees.
