yeah, we can’t breathe
This Australian fire season is unprecedented; the inferno terrorising our beloved country right now is the size of Belgium.
Yeah. The size of a country.
More than half of our annual CO2 emissions have been released in these fires, and Canberra currently has the worst air quality index in the world of 5,109. For reference, 66 is considered good, 200 is considered hazardous.
24 people dead; 6 missing; 2000+ homes destroyed, 500 million animals lost, 8000 of which are koalas: a functionally extinct species; millions in property damage, and expected millions in health problems such as lung cancer, asthma, and other respiratory issues to come (not dissimilar to 9/11); 12 metre (39 feet) flames that are creating their own weather systems; and 6 MILLION hectares of land incinerated.
While Donald Trump is firing everyone up about World War Three, Scott Morrison is completely blasé about the fiery hell his country is descending into - taking a holiday in Hawaii just as conditions begin to worsen.
Australia needs help, desperately so, so please; donate to the New South Wales, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, or South Australia Rural Fire Services, as these are the states most heavily impacted. Vote on the petition to change the governments stance on climate change
This is what climate change looks like. This is real, this is happening now, and if we don’t act now, it will be too late
