Acte XXIII.
After collecting a billion euros for Notre-Dame within a dozen hours, which is thrice the budget his government allowed for the preservation of all French monuments combined, President Macron might well be facing some backlash today as the 'Yellow Vests' gather across the country, including, as promised, on the forbidden Champs-Élysées, one of the richest avenues in the world, where the tourists are made to gape before the luxury supposed to represent France.
Newspapers report that the largely-peaceful Yellow-Vests have gradually come to salute the presence of the anarchist 'Black Blocks' who regularly interposed themselves between riot police and the unexperienced protesters. After too many officials lying on camera about the brutal way the police have acted over the five months the social movement has lasted, and after Macron's latest cop-out where he was expected to announce a few 'positive' measures and ended up milking the Notre-Dame fire as extensively as humanly possible, citizens are angrier than ever.
