Cryptid Signals

“This sounds ridiculous.” Commander Signas sighed as the last of the preparations were made.
Just a few hours prior a hint had been dropped by an anonymous source that a strange cryptid might be the answer to all their “maverick” problems. The operators had just finished placing the finishing touches on the machine that would send out the beacon of light high into the sky. They’d placed the archaic contraption quite a few miles away from the Hunter base just in case this individual wasn’t trust worthy with the base’s location. It was a precaution they’d have to take regardless.
Signas sighed as he folded his arms across his chest. He was a non believer of this rumor and quite honestly he didn’t see any chance of it working, but if this mysterious individual could stop X then anything was worth a shot.
“Alright, that should do it Commander. Should we fire this bad boy up and see if we even get a chuckle from passerby's?” the operator asked getting ready to push the button if instructed.
With a final confident nod from Signas the beacon was turned on and the beam of light shot straight up into the sky. The classic circular beacon of radiant light and at its center a giant “C: Seeing it glowing in the night sky like this almost made Signas cringe at how arbitrary it looked. A hand went up to cover his face in shame, he couldn’t bare to look at the sky despite the huge dorky grin on the operators face next to him.
Hopefully it would work.
