I rarely come on here now, so here’s some pics of my big dorky self doing things that I do
My band Actions & Consequence had our debut show today.
Probably the best run through we've ever had, my vocals held up and we received some really posi praise afterwards- on top of shifting all of our 'practice room demo' CDs.
Huge thanks for the kind words, to Pariso, Svalbard and SSC for sharing the stage and to Craig for having enough faith to ask us.
When's the next one?
Actions & Consequence practice tonight- I thought I’d write out a definite set list for our debut show on July 6th as I hate leaving everything last minute
You might be able to see a theme within the song titles that tie in to the band name and lyrics. Not only accepting the consequences of your own actions, but calling people out to respond to their actions and take responsibility for their choices.
We wrote a new song at practice and I recorded a play through on my camera.. The audio isn't great and it's a bit rough round the edges but here it is.. I'm hoping to catch a few more for some kind of demo CDR for our debut show with Pariso, Svalbard and SSC
On Monday I'm recording a song with my band, Actions & Consequence, it's gonna be a (very kindly donated) free session - which is why it's just the one song - but I'm so stoked and have never done anything like this before.
It was only a year ago that I sang in front of other humans for the first time so this feels like another huge leap- I've only recently started to feel really comfortable singing in front of my band mates and able to try new things and techniques- and 'let myself go'.
The song we're doing is a newer one for us but one I wrote, in it's first stages, just over a year ago when my wife and I separated. It's titled 'Leaving' and uses the analogy of wanting to escape your home town - a place that's full of poisonous people and bad memories- yet somehow always manages to pull you back in.
It's fast and short punk rock like the majority of our songs- and has a very 'early AFI' feel to it. With call & reply style verses from myself and Bassist DanK, and a chorus line that fights against the guitar.
So happy to finally be doing this but I really don't know how anxious I may feel once stood in front of that mic.
Next step after this will be playing our first live show and recording a full EP. And I cannot wait.
My band is practicing on Monday without me cos I can't make it..
This bums me out.
I really wanna get these tracks recorded- we have enough to put out a demo, if we could play even one show I would die happy.
Starting a band when you're older is so much more difficult- relationships, families, jobs.... Oh,to be a teenager again with all the time in world...
A bit o' wisdom.
There are too many people in this world who take the time to blame others for their unhappiness and never accept the consequences for their actions and decisions.
Accepting your downfalls means life moves on faster.
I know too many of these people.
