actium update sunday

CHAPTER 2 IS COMPLETELY DONE!!!!

chaps one and 2 are fully drawn, colored, and have all their text and effects. wow that feels good to say. there’s definitely parts that are wonky to me, but ultimately im so proud to say that 85/209 target pages for release are completely done!!!

did i expect to do in 2 months what i did in over 6? yeah. is it a little embarrassing? also yeah. but now i have a much much clearer idea of how i need to structure every part of my process, so i think the struggling was worth it. i also dont have any friends who make webcomics, so i dont know what a reasonable pace is, so maybe 85 pages and over 400 panels is really impressive for 6 months of on and off work? im gonna choose to believe that lol

im giving my wrist a break tmr and will focus on exporting everything and setting up the site im gonna host actium on to (hopefully) give patrons access to chapter 1 before the month is over. again, it is rough. but it is also my baby and im excited to start sharing it!

other than that, my pc parts came in and i currently have them strewn all around my feet as i work on assembling it. hopefully it means i wont have to put the computer i work on down for times naps bc my laptop has been reallllyyyy struggling lately (i have all of the actium files backed up to a cloud, my ipad, and a thumbdrive just in case lol).

2. What would they do if the other woke in a manic state after a nightmare?

Raiden: brush her hair back from her face if she allowed touch. Say a bunch of stupid enraging shit that had nothing to do with the nightmare, flirt with her. Anything to pull her out of the memory and put her attention onto him. Distract.

Benny: Sit there in silence until he was ready to talk abt it. be a steady constant presence. you don't have to explain anything to her bc she already knows

14. How do their personalities compliment each other? How do they clash?

Benny/Raiden are the complete opposite sides of the spectrum of the same person. Raiden is very charismatic, talkative, hedonistic, says nothing in a thousand words. He will distract in a thousand ways so that you think that you know him, but you only know what he wants you to. Benny is gruff, quiet, unwilling to give up any piece of herself until she chooses to. They clash bc Benny has absolutely no respect for the dishonest way Raiden handles things, and he hates how straight laced and holier than thou she is. They will argue about every single thing until the one single thing they do agree on, and then they will become an unstoppable force to destroy the target of their ire

Does weapon maintenance count? Raiden loves gambling drinking and whoring around, Benny loves to meditate and run combat drills.

Benny. i don't think she's ever consumed alcohol in her life. She'd be the kind to start swinging on people and Raiden would film the whole thing

Benny actually! she takes over as the crew's secondary cook whenever Millie isn't up for cooking

This actually is happening in the chap i'm working on now lol! Ben has no clothes other than her prison uniform so the crew pitches in to give her some handmedowns. she gets raiden's pants and socks. So romantic.

In a more emotional sense the hair clip will get traded at one point. teehee

17. Who’s more likely to pull the other in by the waist and kiss them passionately?

raiden 1000%. Themi don't do romance. or over the top displays of affection. or too much touching that doesn't involve some sort of threat of violence. So Ben really has no idea how to initiate things or even how to be comfortable with them. Raiden is very physical tho so it's a process that just starts with him hanging on her all the time

23. Who’s more likely to convince the other to stay in bed come morning?

raiden again! Benny's got that protestant work ethic you can not keep her down. Actually Raiden might be the only one who can get her to rest short of Amara

51. What’s a non verbal way they say I love you?

Both are emotionally constipated I don't think they can say those words for yearsss. But the kind of develop a way of moving together that shows it? Benny is a shield, Raiden is a sniper. She's always in front and he's always slightly behind. Over time they really pick up each other's movements and habits and know how to wordlessly move around each other. They also learn how to check in with each other, not that they will necessarily change their opinion if the other disapproves (bc they are stubborn assholes), but they still like to know where the other stands.

Other things, too. There's a sponge bath given at one point to one who gets injured, Raiden starts getting more comfortably physical around her, they start to undo a lot of their prejudices abt the other. their relationship is almost entirely nonverbal (and honestly, probably going to remain uncemented throughout), so it's a lot of slow buildup like that

hey hey working on the meet the crew section of the actium website. whats easier to look at, big images that you'll have to scroll through or smaller images that you can click on to make bigger? im leaning towards big, the small images look pretty pixelated to me, but im also not the one who's gonna be actually referring to this section of the site
