It’s a heavy walnut antique, polished to a gleam in a room of modern glass and bronze, and like everything else about him, from the perfectly manicured nails to the understated business suit, it’s meant to convey power. The man himself looks more suited to a bodybuilding competition than to masterminding a criminal empire, with flawless, tanned skin and sun-bleached curls, and broad shoulders that hulk towards her as he leans on his elbows. “I’m always more than happy to assist a police investigation, of course,” he says, steepling large, blunt fingers. “But I’m not sure how I can help in this matter.”

“Did you know Russell Seakirk?” she asks. She doesn’t hold his gaze directly – such men have poor reactions to an obvious challenge – but he doesn’t get submission from her, either.

His mouth tightens. “It’s hard for any supernatural to go unknown by another in a town as small as this.”

This actually is happening in the chap i'm working on now lol! Ben has no clothes other than her prison uniform so the crew pitches in to give her some handmedowns. she gets raiden's pants and socks. So romantic.

raiden 1000%. Themi don't do romance. or over the top displays of affection. or too much touching that doesn't involve some sort of threat of violence. So Ben really has no idea how to initiate things or even how to be comfortable with them. Raiden is very physical tho so it's a process that just starts with him hanging on her all the time

raiden again! Benny's got that protestant work ethic you can not keep her down. Actually Raiden might be the only one who can get her to rest short of Amara

51. What’s a non verbal way they say I love you?

Both are emotionally constipated I don't think they can say those words for yearsss. But the kind of develop a way of moving together that shows it? Benny is a shield, Raiden is a sniper. She's always in front and he's always slightly behind. Over time they really pick up each other's movements and habits and know how to wordlessly move around each other. They also learn how to check in with each other, not that they will necessarily change their opinion if the other disapproves (bc they are stubborn assholes), but they still like to know where the other stands.

Other things, too. There's a sponge bath given at one point to one who gets injured, Raiden starts getting more comfortably physical around her, they start to undo a lot of their prejudices abt the other. their relationship is almost entirely nonverbal (and honestly, probably going to remain uncemented throughout), so it's a lot of slow buildup like that

1. the character everyone gets wrong

sorry you’re getting my jjk blast. nanami’s whole character is about trying to set boundaries and break free from either a corporate hellscape or a literal actual demon-killing hellscape. he chooses to kill curses bc it’s BETTER than working at a corporation, as at least he’d actually have a chance of saving lives as a sorcerer. he chose the ‘die horrifically young and incredibly painfully’ profession bc it was better than being a stock broker in his mind. i give you this backstory bc people are obsessed with him being a ceo au / sugar daddy/ general capitalist. nanami would hate you he is a working man of the people. sorry sorry sorry HE ISNT LIKE THAT
