I went down a horrible rabbit hole 😂 I did the mistake of reading some "reviews" on goodreads for Acotar 6 and 7, and ohhh boi.
I am not a person who comments on other people's posts if I don't agree with their opinion, I skip it and find the ones I do agree with to engage. But I have to admit it was hard ignoring some of the reviews written there. I'm seriously worried for the wellbeing of so many readers, the amount of threats they send Sarah or even themselves if the books won't be the way they like is alarming. I desperately hope the majority can accept what Sarah ends up writing and either stop reading the series, or give it a chance anyway. But I doubt that will end peacefully for some people.
On another note, I saw a lot of opinions on here regarding Elriels, Gwynriels, Eluciens etc. And even though I wasn't surprised to hear what some readers had to say, I was shocked by the sheer amount of actual evidence in all those early reviews on GR. My gosh.....
I knew the hate Elain gets was out there, but I didn't know it was that bad!! You have no idea how frustrating it is to hear people say "when is she finally growing a back bone"; "she should stop treating Lucien like that"; "she deserves Tamlin" .....are they actually right in the head???
Same with the people who baby Lucien. I thought it was more of an inside joke in the Fandom, but nope! There were straight up grown women talking about how he "deserves everything and more, even if he ends up with useless Elain he'll at least have his mate, just as he deserves (Elriel can't happen because that would hurt my Lulu too much)" ....I'm not even kidding that was an actual review I quoted. Wtf. I'm speechless.
And don't get me started on everything they had to say about Azriel and how he deserves someone as epic and cool as him.... which can't possibly be Elain in their eyes.
Having an opinion is one thing, but this hatred some of these adults have for a fictional character/couple causing them to basically create an online cult, really shows that some people need to touch some gras. Respectfully, I am truly worried about their mental health once Acotar 6 + 7 comes out — we all know not everyone will quickly accept the books as they are. They will never stop hating before or after the books have been released.
