E/riel is DOA. Elaine is supposed to thrive and find her voice and be her own person? Az talks about her behind her back. She says to him she is not a child to be fought over, yet he acts entitled and tells Rhysand because his two brothers got two sisters so he is owed the third and wants to do a duel with Lucien. And after Elaine tries to find the dread trove, Azriel tells her she shouldn’t which ignores Elaine’s voice. Positive where?

And yet Lucien was the only one who gives her space to come into her own, is the only one who gives her credit for killing the King, and knew what she needed as a mate would. Sunshine. He told her to go her outside in the sun. And what does Elaine say she needs? Sun. Elucien is not a bitter taste. Elucien is the endgame and that is why we aren't being told any information because E/riels will be mad and bully.

Azriel doesn't act entitled to Elain. He asks Rhys a pretty fair question considering Azriel, like the rest of us who have reading comprehension skills, CAN RECOGNIZE PATTERNS. He not once says he is owed Elain, but he wonders why not him when it will he his turn.

Again, you're either not reading the books or you're being obtuse. The reason Azriel tells Elain to not go looking for it is because Elain's abilities are still for the most part a mystery and no one knows how it will connect to her or if it will cause Koschei to figure out Elain's place in everything. He's concerned about her, not dimming her voice. Azriel never forbade her to her face, scolded her on it, or any of that. It's literally his job to analyze threats and he won't have anything that will hurt Elain.

Again, are you dumb?? Lucien gives Elain space because FEYRE AND NESTA TOLD HIM TO. At least he has the sense to know not to stay where he's not wanted. Elain literally avoids the guy like a plague.

From a writing perspective I wish Eluciens would see how the ship is DOA.

It would be incredibly redundant to the entire series. The past 4 books of build up would've been a complete waste of time. SJM might as well burn all the past books if Elucien were to come into fruition. We've seen nothing but negativity and ill tension between Elain and Lucien. Not in the same way as Feysand or Nessian where they argued but were ultimately each other's yin and yang. The romantic intentions were pretty clear by their actions as much as their words.

For Elucien it's all a bitter taste in the reader's mouth. The fmc shouldn't be shrinking and minimalizing herself around the one she's meant to be with. That's abnormal for a romance story. She's supposed to thrive, find her voice, and be her own person. That is who we see with Elain is with Azriel. He is HER choice. First at foremost. Elriel isn't a rocket science pairing, its just following the books like any other series. Eluciens choosing to hold onto such an unhappy mating bond is not a great hill to die on.

Elain’s empowering moment is not going to be male centric and it’s important to me that everyone acknowledges that.

She’s a SEER, she likely has additional powers that we’re not aware of yet.

Her story is going to be bigger than whether or not she rejects the bond.

I want it to be bigger than that.

Sarah J. Maas wrote that sometimes, the mating bond picks poorly. Sometimes, it’s just preordained guesswork at who will provide the strongest offspring and NOT an indication of true, paired souls.

She wrote that sometimes, mates will try to make it work only to realize years later that the pairing was not ideal in spirt.

Sarah is the one who went on CHD and said sometimes, nature chooses WRONG.

If you don’t like that mates aren’t always true love in ACOTAR, maybe you should go read something else 🤷‍♀️ There are plenty of book series where mates always equal soul mates. ACOTAR isn’t one of them.

Don’t get mad at readers for picking up on the very obvious foreshadowing laid out by the author. Sarah is the one who created this lore and it’s not our fault most people understand it’s because Elucien will be an example of nature choosing wrong. No one is forcing you to read this.
