I really hate when I talk to someone about vampires and I am ready for an interesting debate about a certain movie or vampires as a whole and then they have weird opinions and refuse to talk to me about them

Had a conversation with a girl yesterday who was discussing twilight with me and just kept talking about werewolves bc that's what she likes and I don't know much so I was talking about vampires and kept questioning her on why she liked werewolves more and she just stops the whole conversation "I don't like what vampires are meant to be a metaphor of" and I'm like wait wait wait... you can't just say that because there's so many fictional vampires and so many vampires that people believed were real you can't chalk it all up to like aids or smth?? Especially because werewolves have been the exact same in certain circumstances and she just wouldn't listen.

My big thing about both of these topics is you just can't generalize them. I can get talking about things in like twilight but you can't generalize a werewolf or a vampire on a scale like that it doesn't work because their origins are different and their canon changes so much from movie to show to book to "real life" encounter

Flawed and morally dark characters are interesting and engaging because we love seeing their motivations and reasonings, or just think villainy is facinating, the reason people often prefer villains and evil characters is because they are almost always better written, and if not, have immense potential.

Characters that are always perfectly lawful, morally upstanding, never do evil, never make mistakes, always have the moral high ground and never learn anything because they're always pure white in intent and holier than thou, you know what they usually are?

Piss Fuckin Boring.

Characters with conflicts are what engages us, what pulls us in to learn more about them and view more of them. If a character has no flaws, never learns anything and doesn't have any internal or external conflict, they're usually not very engaging because why would they be? They always get what they want and they're perfect. Sure, these characters could be good mentor characters but almost never main plot characters because they have no journey to take.

I'm sure there are always exceptions but i'm just saying, if someones favorite character is flawed, morally grey/dark or even just straight up evil, don't give them shit and don't hate on them for their taste in what characters draw them in. 9 times outta 10 it's because that character has more development potential than whatever perfect protagonist the hater in question prefers to call their baby.

I thought the worst part of making new friends would be just not clicking with people and having to deal with that awkwardness but instead it was finding one of those fucking whiny antisocial bitches who just always seem to cling to me again and they're trying to bring me down. The first time I saw people on tiktok using the automated voice I thought it was really clever to use like Google translate if you don’t wanna speak on a video platform

God I HATE having to appeal to adults when talking about my interests. I hate that they only think certain things are worthy of respect like I’ll talk about adult shows and books from before 1980 and they’re like “wow you’re so much better than all other teenagers who are superficial and like bad things” and then I can’t talk about any of my shitty interests I’m more passionate about

The phrase “young gay man” makes me feel weird. Have we all forgotten Nico is currently 14-15 years old. That is a baby, that is my age and that’s a baby. I feel like this book is representing him as a uniquely tortured soul but we need to remember that he not only went through all of that awful shit but he was only 10 when Bianca died and it has only been like 4 or 5 years. He shouldn’t be infantilized but we should remember, he’s not really close to becoming an adult he would only be a Freshman or Sophomore right now.
