I am asking this out of genuine confusion and as someone who is not in the medical field at all, and this is a genuine question about Langdon and Santos conversation and what she said about Langdon being reported and going to jail.
It is my understanding, unless I'm mistaken, that Langdon is in some sort of recovery program for mental health and addiction, is repeating his fourth year residency, and is under restriction for medication prescriptions and distribution (unless I've missed something)? I also know that addicts in the medical profession are more likely to steal from the hospitals because they are safe and reliable drugs, as opposed to something that could be laced on the streets.
So my question is two-fold, first of all, wouldn't Langdon need to confess or be reported to qualify to be in the PHP or whatever it is, complete with drug tests and restrictions to medication, and secondly, wouldn't the theft also be reported or at least assumed by most everyone considering it's not uncommon?
I'm not siding with Langdon or Santos, and this is not a question about Langdon's consequences or lack thereof, I just know nothing about this process and would like to know more.
