"Bonbon presses her face to the path and inhales deeply. She jolts back in disgust so quickly that she almost falls. The smell of goblin feet is very strong, at least a dozen. Despite her eyes watering from the putrid stench of feet she notices drag marks consistent with 2 bodies." Actual thing I had to say when my 7 year old decided she wanted to try to smell the path and see what it tells her.
The 9 year old girl i babysit made her mom get her a notebook just for DnD. During our session she kept track of her thrown weapons, HP, XP, etc and she'd note her physical status. My personal favorite was when she announced "I'm updating my status from Bleeding to Just Bloody."
