This blog was started by myself (Melissa Sage, she/her or they/them @memory-of-amalgamy) and Anius (they/them, @anarcho-shindouism) based on some conversations that we'd had. We both share a love of learning and studying, but we have a lot of frustrations with the kinds of things you usually see on productivity blogs- specifically, the way the advice they give is usually frustratingly only appropriate for neurotypicals. Both of us suffer from mental illnesses that affect our ability to intellectually apply ourselves. If you’ve ever been frustrated because you read productivity advice and it felt like it was missing several steps, you’re not alone.
So from those conversations we got the idea to start this blog: to collect and curate discussion and resources about studying for disabled people, ranging from accessibility resources to to managing self-care and academic workloads to tips for particular topic areas.
#actuallymotivated was chosen by us because we've definitely been told in the past that we're lazy, or that we could solve this problem with a bit more effort, or had our motivation called into question because of our disabilities.
Anius and I will be using this blog to start to curate resources as we see them, and also to start to foster discussion! If you have a speciifc question you'd like to ask or discussion you'd like to start, please feel free to post in the tag and we'll reblog it, or send in an ask to the blog!
