at this point, yuka was 101% certain that the library staff wanted to ban her from checking out any of the books in the library. over the span of five years, she had only returned ten books on time. she didn’t intentionally return them overdue, it’s just that her attention would get caught by something else when she planned on returning them and so, she’d end up forgetting about them, only to be reminded by an exasperated librarian when she’d visit the library by chance.
but this time, she actually remembered and the books were only a day overdue as well! which she thought is something applaudable given her track record and all.
she’s humming the tune of ‘gee’ as she enters the library, immediately receiving some annoyed stares that cause her to stop. getting zapped by an angry student was not on her to-do list today. heading to the counter, she sets the books down before the librarian with a smile on her face. “three book to return,” she says, a hint of satisfaction in her tone. “sorry it’s late, again, but at least it’s not as late as usual, right?”
