😶: Do your protagonists have a huge ‘i messed up’ moment? Does that moment affect anyone else? How many times does a moment like this happen?
A long time ago, a phoenix and a human prince made terrible mistakes. The repercussions still echo throughout society, from the Palace of Swords to the furthest corners of civilization.
Ironically, the current protagonists are also a phoenix and human prince. While they won’t make the same horrific mistakes of their predecessors, other missteps do happen!

Society sees Sycamore as odd and eccentric, but otherwise just another person. There was a moment of chaos when she first showed her regrown feathers, which upset her a little, though it died down quickly. Overall Sycamore is happy with the humans and thinks they’re adorable!
Prince Alastair is financially privileged due to, well, being the heir to the throne. He feels tremendous frustration since his success doesn’t come from his own achievements. Seeing social injustices and inequalities fuels his rage. “Why should those people suffer while wealth is handed to me unearned?”
