Happy Jess Franco Friday! “Voodoo Passion” or the screen title of “Call of the Blond Goddess” is a Voodoo infused take on “Night Has a Thousand Desires.” This film had some misleading titles that would make one think this was a hardcore feature such as: “Vengeance of the Nude Goddess,” “The Goddess of Porn,” the some somewhat fitting title “Wet Dreams,” the unimaginative cash in title “Porno Deep Throat,” and the misleading yet intriguing title “Porno Shock.” The film is unfortunately dubbed and the synchronization of the sound and dub is just leading the action on screen. This is not as distracting as how the dub artists pronounce the location Haiti as (High Eighty) or being (High E Shun). A (Sahh Viet Union) is thrown in for good measure too. Diaphanous robes and “Lady From Shanghai” mirrors abound in this fever dream inhabited by stunning and compelling characters such as Vicky Adams, Ada Tauler, and Karine Gambier. Jack Taylor plays Jack the enigmatic husband who enjoys open mouth kissing like a lamprey and who has no need for diaphanous robes. Grab your Voodoo doll and curl up with Voodoo Passion!
