I posted the whole concept in the tags of an almost completely unrelated post once, but, much like midamoul, adamandriel came to hold a special place in my heart after I figured out how it could happen in canon.
OBVIOUSLY, Adam and Samandriel met after Michael was set on fire in the season 5 finale and had to blip out of the earthly plane for a hot minute, during which time Michael stormed passed Samandriel in Heaven’s lobby and shoved Adam’s soul into his arms on his way to get healed by Raphael, saying, “Hold this until I get back!”
Samandriel then did as he was told. Michael, however, was in a huge hurry to get back to the fight on earth--during which he OBVIOUSLY assumed that Dean had shown up to break up the big battle of the apocalypse armed with both the Lance of Michael and an archangel blade, because Balthazar’s heist on Heaven’s armory would have taken place around the same time that Sam and Dean were last in Heaven, leading Michael to assume that they had robbed Heaven, and were prepared to gut Lucifer before Michael could do it himself--to the point that he forgot to go back for Adam’s soul.
And Samandriel is such a sweetheart, he proceeded to stand there in that very spot, holding Adam bridal style in Heaven’s lobby, while the events of season 6 carried on around them, with Cas and Raphael and their various allies chasing each other with swords every which way, no one stopping to check in with them, and Adam periodically going, “You know, I don’t think he’s coming back.”
“No, Michael will wonder where we are.”
Also, Anael’s desk is a few feet away. She and Adam become friends and talk shit on the various reapers who come by to drop off new souls.
Eventually, they get close enough that Adam agrees to cover her button-pushing duties while Anael runs off to earth to be Sister Jo, since season 15 decided to make it unclear when she started doing that. Though it is somewhat awkward, since Samandriel still refuses to put Adam down.
