Today was just starting off great. Your car wouldn’t start so you had to take the train to pick up Malia from school. Then you missed the train by just a few seconds, so you had to wait for the next one. And to add the cherry on the fucken top it started to rain on your way back home.
“Momma, slow down” Malia shouted over the loud sounds of pedestrians and the rain.
“Well angel if you would let me carry you I wouldn’t have to drag you down the streets of New York. I can’t have you being sick right now” you sighed. Malia was at the age where she wanted to become independent and do things her own way. Which meant walking at a snail's pace to get home when it’s legit pouring rain outside. You were too busy arguing with your little one that you ran straight into a hard body, and landing straight on your ass onto your back in front of your building.
You accepted the strangers hand and quickly apologize. “Oh shit! I’m so sorry I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.” Once you were on your feet you searched Malia to see if she had any injuries.
While making sure she’s okay, a smooth deep voice that sounded all too familiar but yet so foreign said, “No no, I’m sorry I was in a rush. Are you and your daughter okay?” You stood frozen, feeling as if all the blood drained out of your body. You looked up and saw the face that you wish wasn’t there. “Adam” you whispered. A solid few moments passed, just staring at each other while people walked around you, and getting upset that you guys were in the middle of the walk way blocking the path during rush hour. Adam was shocked. He didn’t think that after 4 years you would ever run into each other again. You changed, you had semi black hair, instead of your original y/h/c. You had small bags under your y/e/c eyes that made you look so tired. But overall you looked happy, you had this glow to you that made Adam feel guilty.
“Mommy, are you okay. It’s cold, and I wanna go home,” Malia said as she hide behind your body to shield herself from the big man that knocked you two down. You snapped out of this trance that you were in. You looked down at Malia, than to Adam. You picked up her up and ran straight through the entrance of your building.
“Wait y/n!” You picked up your pace when you heard Adams boots hitting the floor, on the entry way to the lobby. You desperately pushed the button, frantically trying to get the damn elevator doors to close faster. As you finally looked up you saw Adam trying to get to you before the doors closed. As soon as he was about to reach the entrance to the elevator, the doors closed just in time. Thanking the universe or gods for finally being on your side. You sighed in relief, and looked at your daughter. “You okay angel?” She nodded, not understanding the whole situation that just happened. You were now getting anxious to get to your apartment before Adam did. Hurry up, Hurry up! The doors finally opened on your floor. You stuck your head out to make sure that you wouldn’t run into him. The coast was clear. You walked down the hall took a right and you saw your door, 619. You put Malia down to grab your keys from your bag. A few moments passed and you felt Malia tiny hand tugging on your coat to get your attention, “Momma”. “Hold on mama, I just need to open the door.” Then that’s when you felt him. The hairs on your body stood. You could feel his body heat slowly reaching to you, and the smell of your favorite cologne of his, mixed with fresh rain.
“Y/n...” You stood there defeated just inches from your front door, you had lost. “We need to talk” he said. You nodded to his response and entered your apartment. “Go to your room momma, and get your backpack that I packed for your sleepover. Olivia and Violet should be here soon.” You watched as she ran to her room excitedly, forgetting that there was a strange man in her home. Once she was in her room, you turned to look at Adam. You forgot how handsome he is. His raven hair was longer. He was also more toned, and you figured it was because of his role in Star Wars, and he looked sad. Why? He was living the life! He was all over the news about the movies he was in, winning all these awards, and hooking up with all of these women??
You both looked at each other still not saying a single word. You can tell that he had many questions by the look on his face, but that thought made you mad. If he even tried asking you that certain question you were gonna be pissed. And in that moment you were so glad that is was Olivia’s weekend to watch Malia. Speaking of the devil, there was knocking on your door. “Malia they’re here!!” You walked passed Adam and opened the door. “Hey, Malia is just grabbing her bag, and Adam is here” as you whispered the last part to Olivia. She took the signal and looked passed your shoulder to look at the man. Her eyes widened as well and mouthed what the fuck! You just nodded back not saying anything because Adam was looking at the two of you.
“I’m ready!” Malia pushed passed everyone and was running down the hall to the elevator with Violet. You were glad that you meet Olivia, and created a great bond with her. Especially when she introduced her daughter to Malia, because they became best friends immediately. That was when you two decided that every weekend you guys would take turns watching each others kid to have a break from being single moms.
Olivia whispered to you “Let me know what happens.” “Well” she said out loud. “I know the drill, call or text if I have problems with Malia. Also, I will drop her off before bed time on Sunday, because we reserved movie seats to see Frozen 2.” You nodded and stood out the door to watch Olivia, Violet and Malia safety enter the elevator to her floor. Once the elevator door closed you went back inside your apartment. It was now time to face Adam, alone.
