Adapter Plate nightmare
As you can see I’m converting a MGB GT and planning to use 240Z manual gear box. For the motor to drive the gear box, an adapter plate is necessary to connect the Motor to gear box.
Nissan/Datsun 240Z is sold in the US between 1968 and 1979. Nissan also introduced 240S in 1989 in US and these are completely different beasts. When I talk to vendors to get an adapter first they think its MGB and they say Yes, we do have it. I again clarify that I’m hooking up 240Z transmission to the Motor. They look around and come back and say - Yes, we do have 240S adapter. I again clarified that it is NOT an S, but 79Z. They go hmmm…
Its frustrating at times and fun when I look back..
Still looking for the adapter.. My Conversion Guide/Partner is suggesting that we make our own adapter plate.. I’ll keep you posted on the progress..
Ah!!! The adapter plate for 240Z Gear Box!!
