Kurt woke up on his floor several times during the night. It wasn’t going to be any easier to sleep this time than it was after the first time he’d run through a compound where bodies lined the hallways, their corpses sprawled in grotesque, unnatural angles as they littered the pathway. He couldn’t stop thinking about all of them. They weren’t nice people, but they were all there to trap mutants because this is what they were afraid would happen if they didn’t.
And now their bodies were buried under the remains of a compound that they’d hoped would keep them safe.
Kurt was almost grateful when it seemed a decent hour to wake up and start to move about his room again. He quickly showered, rubbing his skin almost raw when he realized that there was still some blood on him. After he was sure he was clean, he dressed and went back to his bedroom.
Kurt sat in his desk chair and watched Raven sleep for a long moment.
Selene was telling the truth. Raven is his mother and how she was there, right next to him and he had so many questions that he had no idea what to say to her.
For now, Kurt sat quietly, waiting for Raven to wake up.
