Wired Magazine - addappt Featured in ‘Apps of the Month’
It is always exciting to discover addappt getting recognized.
A user informed us that addappt was featured in their ‘Apps of the Month’ column by Wired in their UK edition for December.
We will be eagerly looking out for it in their US issue as well and hope to get our hands on that issue.
Version 2.3.2 - Watch OS2!
We just released a new version and here are the changes we made:
- iPhone version is now compatible with iOS 9.0
But we had fun with addappt on Apple Watch and adding support to Watch OS2. You will notice:
- we have tweaked the UI a wee bit bringing out our brand colors more.
[Notice - addappt continues to be the single best way to get an emoji next to your name on your friends phones and Apple watch!]
We have also added our own custom notifications when the app is in the foreground and background in addition to the one you receive when it is not active at all. And if it comes from a connection on your favorites list with a photo, you will love the little animation we had added!

Finally and importantly:
- we have added new haptics! You will feel it when you tap on an emoji or a message ‘on tapp’ - we have also added more feedback with cool animations when the app is ‘sending ...’ and audio for a successful or failed effort.
For emoji, it is a cool pulsating ball and for messages ‘on tapp’, there are 5 balls moving back and forth as shown in the images below.

Apple Watch Update
Now that we have Apple Watches on our wrist, we have finally been to do some real world testing with addappt on it .. like many app developers out there, we built the app based entirely on the simulator.
We were happy to see it all works .. change the first listed favorite and the Glance updates immediately.
Change the order of your messages on tapp and it updates on the Apple Watch New messages created or existing ones edited update on the Watch Emoji reorders based on use All tapp notifications show up on the Watch when your iPhone is locked (if iPhone is open, it shows up on the iPhone as expected)
One thing that stood out the most for us, was that things need to be bigger on it for easy use due to its small interface .. on the simulator, we thought it was too big.
The next update will have the following enlarged:

We started development work on ‘tapp’ last summer and launched it last November. Very uniquely positioned to be the best messaging experience for the Watch which works across iPhones and Android phones, tapp promises to be a lot of fun with your favorite emoji a tap away enhancing your communication and saving time by leaps and bounds ..
We intend to make tapp go a long way in reducing the 110 times an average person looks at their phone!
What does addappt do on the watch? addappt on the apple watch allows you to send and receive "tapp" notifications to/from addappt connections (Click here to learn more about tapp).
To whom can I send tapp notifications? You can send it to any connected contacts in your favorites list.
Are tapp notifications saved on the servers? No - none of the tapp notifications are saved on the servers
Can I send tapp notifications to my friends on Android phones? And can I receive notifications from them on my Apple Watch? Yes - you can!
Do I have to pay for tapp notifications? No - it is a completely free service which uses data (cellular data rates will apply unless you are on Wifi).
How do I get my favorites on the watch? On your phone, you can edit favorites in addappt by tapping "Edit Favorites." You can then select contacts individually or by searching and update your favorites list. They will automatically appear on the watch.

I see a Glance for the app - what does that do? On the iPhone app, we had introduced the notion of a super favorite with the ‘shake to call’ feature. On the Apple Watch, your super favorite is the one listed first in your Favorites and it automatically updates when she change the order. This enables one to send tapp messages quickly to their most important contact.
I see time for my favorite contacts - what is that and how does that happen? Just like on our iPhone and Android phone apps, we show local time for ANY contact (connection or not) based on the address available. You can manually type it in for that contact on the iPhone app (even if the connection has not provided it themselves).
Do I need the exact street address to show my contact’s local time? No - just the city and country will suffice.
How do I send a tapp notification from the watch? Select the person to whom you want to send the tapp. Once you touch their contact, the tapp screen will open. You can then choose to send an emoji or one of the saved notifications.
Can I send emoji from my Apple Watch? Yes - we have provided the same top 100 emoji in the Apple Watch as well. Tap on a favorite > tap on ‘Emoji’ and then tap on an emoji you wish to send
And Yes - we have provided the secret vulcan salute, 🖖 to all as well .. Not via cumbersome shortcuts, not deep within any keyboard - just one tap!
How do I edit the tapp notifications? To edit messages, open addappt on the phone. Select the tapp icon on any contact. From the tapp screen, tap the Edit icon on the top right. This allows you to rearrange, delete, edit, and create notifications. [How-to video here]
Can I send non-custom free form messages with tapp? Yes you can but only from the phone apps on iOS or Android.
Can I create/have kaomoji messages on tapp? Yes - absolutely.
Can I invite people to connect from the watch itself? Yes, if you try to send a tapp notification and the person is not connected to you on addappt, you will have the option to send them an invitation to join addappt and connect. Once they are connected, you will be able to send and receive tapp notifications.
Where can I send my suggestions? We love listening - send them to [email protected] and our team guarantees a response (which is not automated).
Version 2.2 - Verify mobile, more emails and big iPhones
Two features that has been asked often from us and one that we all internally really needed are finally here:
1) Support for the iPhone 6 and 6 plus.
We all know how successful the new big iPhones have been - so now see addappt in really cool and crisp images and if you and your friends have photos, you are going to love this update!
Since the big phones do make photos pop, we have made it easier to change your photo on your ‘Me’ (and consequently on all your friends’ phones) - an easy way to manage your selfie on your friends’ phones! Just tap on your own photo that you see up above on the screen as soon you get to the ‘Me’ tab [See image below]
For Android and iOS
We focus a lot on privacy and safety of our users and prioritize it to ‘growth’ of our business. We used the verified email for finding and connecting you with your friends but it was very limiting.
For example, many of us:
1) have more (or only) mobile numbers than emails in our phone’s address book 2) have a work and many personal email. Personal emails by themselves are few - we have old ones that we have stopped using for example. 3) share work email with colleagues and personal emails with friends & family
Now with this new update, we address all of these scenarios so if you verify your mobile number and at least a work and personal email, you will be able to find and connect with more friends easily.
Quick facts on verifying multiple properties:
1) By default, the app does NOT SHARE any new piece of data that you verify. 2) To stop sharing any piece of data that you have verified and shared, tap on the ‘chevron’ (right arrow within a circle)/your name up above along your photo > see the details about yourself that you are sharing and then tap ‘edit’ on the top right to simply delete what you do not wish to share. That piece of data will not be shared yet continued to stay verified. If you change your mind, simply go the ‘Me’ tab and tap ‘Share’ against that piece of information you wish to share again. Why would I wish to verify and not share? We have all been there - an old personal email abandoned because it got hacked, it was not meeting your requirements, you got locked out of it or you just wanted to start fresh.
But this old email was what you shared with many for years and since updating your friends with your new email (or mobile) is hard (unless one is using addappt 😀), some of our friends continue to have the old email.
But we do want to find them and update them with our latest information - if verified, addappt would use it to find them and enable you to connect with them but not share your old email with your new/old friends moving forward.
Why should I verify at least one work and one personal email?
Many of us share our work email with colleagues and personal email with friends and family. Verifying one of each will enable you to find more people you know and connect with them.
How do I get started to verify my mobile number and other emails?
iOS:
1) Tap on the ‘Me’ tab below 2) tap the ‘verify’ buttons for mobile and follow the instructions to receive your verification code 3) tap ‘verify’ for your email if you share more than one email. To verify a new email which you have not shared (or do not wish to share), simply tap on ‘Verify another email address’
Android 1) Tap on your own contact from anywhere - from the home screen ‘Me’ (as shown below) or from the list view of all your contacts listed up on the very top top 2) tap the ‘verify’ buttons for mobile and follow the instructions to receive your verification code 3) tap ‘verify’ for your email if you share more than one email. To verify a new email which you have not shared (or do not wish to share), simply tap on ‘Verify another email address’

This has been the biggest launch for us ever and in fact, it might be even bigger than the launch of our company. We have a lot to share today and here is the list:
