19 years of living with an alcoholic father. last week i quickly packed my essentials and moved to a friend's while my father was in the psych ward again. everyone with addicted parents knows how incredibly hard it is, i feel guilty even though i am just taking care of myself. alcoholics have a great way of making you feel responsible and guilty for their consumption. its not your fault.
with the help of social workers, i am currently trying to become financially stable, as a student I dont have enough money. will apply for social aid this week until i can move again for uni and get a sustainable job.
these past few days have been incredibly hard for me. suddenly, i know what life is like without having an alcoholic father ruining every day. waking up to my alarm rather than screaming and beer bottles being smashed against the wall is new and alien to me. having three meals a day is new. a clean environment is new. the floors aren't sticky because of alcohol. (yes obviously i was cleaning when i lived with my father but i focused on leaving my room and the bathroom clean, i didnt have enough energy to clean everything, i am in the middle of finals and uni applications and anxiety and osdd doesnt make it easier.)
it's also nice to always have my best friend under the roof.
