OJT EATS | Litun @ Addiction Aquatic Development
Sometimes referred to as the Tsukiji of Taipei, Addiction Aquatic Development is a fish market that’s been refurbished up to include a few restaurants as well as a grocery section. Personally, I find it very different to Tsukiji as it almost feels more like a very fancy supermarket with a few restaurants set up inside it but still, it’s a great place to pick up some great sushi. Litun is the name of the stand up sushi bar in there and is also where we ate the last time we went.
First up was some nigiri to kick the meal off. This was their selection which had a nice variety including eel (which was particularly delicious), shrimp, salmon and 2 types f tuna amongst a few others. The fish was all super fresh and the rice was also just right with a touch of vinegar and not too cold or hard.
This was some extra nigiri that we decided to add to our order. Those 3 in the middle are all tuna belly but it’s the 2 at the top that are my favourite (especially the white one). They are wagyu beef with garlic chips and turbot fin. Turbot fin may well be my favourite nigiri of them all and this with just a touch of blowtorching melted in my mouth; so good!
We got some grilled prawns to go with the nigiri. Again, really good quality seafood chucked on the grill and served with a slice of lemon. Really simple but so tasty.
We also decided to go for a big crab leg. This was a bit more work getting into it but we worked away with the scissors and was rewarded with a big chunk of meat that was tender and sweet. A little pricey but worth it as a bit of a treat.
Last up here is the sashimi, in our case just a selection of tuna. As you can maybe make out from the picture, this was various different types of tuna from lean to medium fatty. The quality of the fish was top notch and it was a little scary how quickly we made our way through this whole bowl!
It may be cheaper to pick up some sushi from the ready made section and eat it in the food court section but there’s something about a stand up sushi bar that just makes the experience a bit more fun. When the food is of this quality as well, if you’re a lover of sushi, I’d definitely recommend a trip here!
