How to Add Alt Text to Your Roleplay Icons
As long as you are using the beta post editor, adding alt text to your icons is super simple!
When you're in edit mode on a given post, you'll notice that the images you add have a three dots icon in the lower right corner of them.
When you click those three dots, you'll be given an option to Update image description. Click on that.
This will bring you to the Image Description box. While the character limit for this is 4.096 characters, I'd strongly recommend keeping things brief. For roleplay icons, you will rarely need more than 3-5 words, at least in my experience.
After you type in your description of the image, click the Update button in the lower right corner of the window. This will take your back to the main post, and you can continue editing knowing that you've added alt text!
Once you exit edit mode, your post will look like this on desktop (alt text does not currently displays as a visible image description on the mobile app):
The icon has a very faint "ALT" tag on it now, telling everyone who sees the post that it has alt text.
If you hover over that tag, it gets clearer, and you can select it.
Selecting it displays the full Image Description you typed up that is now being used as alt text. You can usually exit out of popup by clicking anywhere else on the screen, but if that doesn't work, just click the "ALT" tag again to collapse it.
Keep in mind that you can go even more simple than the example I used here; it can be as short as "[character name] with [emotion] expression" or "[character name] looking [emotion]."
