On your typical weekday, Dani woke up later than most. Being ‘semi-nocturnal,’ as they liked to define their habitual routine of sleeping and waking, their husband would be well out the door and gone to work, by the time they dragged themself out of bed. It was a schedule that worked well with the academic hours they had established for their university courses; hours that appealed to both daywalking and nightwalking individuals.
Eleven in the morning was even early than they often rose. The fast approach of spring proper meant that the dawn came a little earlier every day, and the bright light it cast through the window glared through the thin skin of their eyelids without any consideration of their intention to sleep. They should probably consider investing in some curtains...
After brushing their teeth, showering, and fixing themself a cup of tea, Dani pulled on some loose clothing and emerged from the cabin. A short trek through the woods later, they arrived at a wooden platform isolated in the midst of the nature surrounding their home. The platform wasn’t necessarily large or impressive, but it did boast a scenic view over the lake and the continued forest beyond; the perfect place to wake up their body with some early exercise, whether that was martial arts, yoga, or something else entirely. Today, they had chosen yoga, but before they could begin, they padded to the center of their space and seated themself. Closing their eyes, they leaned back on their arms to breathe. If they were going to be balancing their body, it was essential that their mind was balanced too. Distraction didn’t bode well for the more complicated poses.
