Ruin (Writing Snippet #1)
“There’s a very fine line between reckless and brave captain-”
His head shifted ever so slightly that it was only perceivable to them, the one standing a few inches away from the scowl that seemed permanently placed on their rivals face. Sweat beaded upon their forehead like the dew on the grass they stood on. The scowl came nearer until the heat of their bodies was distinguishable from the blazing sun’s heat.
“- And you’re teetering a little too much on that delicate line for my tastes”
The lips whispered, the eyes burning a hole in the pit of their stomach, despite maintaining unblinking eye-contact. But to hell if they were going to let that intimidate them. They gulped, and spat out the next words with dripping sarcasm and hate.
“Well if we’re getting honest here, I don’t really give a damn about your tastes good sir. I’ll teeter wherever I damn please, so kindly take a step back so I can smell freely again.”
As their rival stepped back, in a phase of astonished blinking, their own eyes lit up with glee, not letting their face betray their true cause for glee.
They knew they were being reckless. That they knew what they were about to do might ruin them. Ruin everyone. But for some reason, for once in their pitiful existence, they didn’t care.
