Adele De Garde in What Drink Did (1909, D.W. Griffith)
Biograph child actress Adele De Garde, is remembered for her big, pleading eyes and tightly closed lips. Born in Brooklyn, New York City in May 3, 1899, Adele lost her mother at the age of nine. Her father Albert De Garde(1876-1918) married Alice Heppler after his wife's death. Adele left Biograph company for Vitagraph studios in about 1911. After her father's death in February 1918, she married Norwegian-born Harry Norman Jespersen three months later. And no-where-to-go her little brother George De Garde(1905-1976) became living with Adele and her husband.
