"strip him from his apanage" is too much if i can speak :/ His apanage is the thing that have stopped him to have a normal life, and it's all he has. To strip him off that now would be childish. It's too late. He never had a normal life, and now, after like, 50 YEARS of trying, he manage to have kind of a "normal" life, a glance, it's luck for him i think. I understand him and what he does.
It has stopped nothing. If he didn’t want to do this, he could easily have pulled a Märtha Louise. He chose not to. Now he’s trying to get away with doing the barest minimum – not even bothering to show up to official gatherings – but still enjoying his big fat pay check and frankly, I think that’s an appalling display from his side. A slap in the face to every hard-working Dane.
I say he should find himself a job in France – that’s where they seem to want to be anyway – then he can attend whichever official gatherings he’d like to, hold however many patronages he’d like to (of course the expenses for those would be paid for – preferably through QMII’s apanage) and his full apanage and maybe even his children’s princely titles could be taken away. As a poster on TRF said, that would also make sense both in terms of the titular issues with his kids – with four children who (to the best of my knowledge) technically all have the right to pass on their titles and a court that seems to be wanting to slim things down, we’re inevitably gonna stand with a problem on our hands at some point – and it would give the court some leeway in terms of backtracking on their ridiculous claim that only Christian will be receiving apanage in the future (which just doesn’t hold – unless they have a Norway-like stripped down future planned out, at the very least they’re also gonna need to make Bella a full-time royal in the future).
As for royals and their lack of “normal lives”. Please. These people would never trade their extravagant and over-privileged lives with a normal albeit working class person who actually has to work hard for their money. I’m never gonna feel sorry about the lack of “normalcy” for a person who was born into as much privilege as a(ny) royal is.
