Friendly reminder Johanna Mason was playing shy and weakness in her games.
*weak
And yes, it is true that she pretended to be unspectacular in order to draw attention from herself. But that was only for part of her games. And, as she clearly demonstrates upon winning, just because people seem a certain way doesn’t mean that is their true nature.
Now, these pictures were not meant to be from the games she took part in. In fact, there was a very deliberate use of Capitol-styled makeup that was done before shooting to exaggerate features and make more dramatic shots. Shy and weak can make for good photos, but not very dynamic or diverse. So, we went the Capitol way, as if she’s getting her photos taken for an interview after winning the games. Which is why she’s in the clothing that would represent her place in District 7: Lumber.
There were some photos that turned out game-like, as if they were stills from videos of the games, but none of them were particularly aggressive pieces, and feigning weakness when she’s alone wouldn’t make much sense anyway. Being weak was a guise for the other competitors so that they would ignore her. It would be better to be quick, efficient, gather water, catch food, etc, without dragging your tail and then disappear again and have no one see you, than to waste time dragging your feet. So, that’s why those were put up. If it bothers you so much, then no. Assume they’re not from her games, because that’s not what the shoot was intended to be about anyway. I just thought they were fun.
Furthermore, if you’d actually asked me why I chose to present Johanna that way off of anon, I would have been able to respond to you privately and refrain from saying something on my actual blog for all of my followers to see. But since this is the route you’ve chosen, this is how I have to go about it: Johanna is a very deep and complex character. She’s, in my opinion, the hardest bitch outwardly to cover for her more emotional center which is rather easily over-turned or damaged. The personality of the character, as a character, was what I was portraying in my photos, and not some time-specific scene.
So, if there’s anything further you’d like to comment on, feel free to leave it in my ask box. Off of anon would be preferable, so I can take you seriously.
Thanks!
