i got your back, boo. it's racist because of a thing caled whitewashing, which is the media's crazy insistence that minorities will not sell a movie - so they cast white actors as people of color and appropriate their culture all over them. POC rarely receive the opportunity to audition and even more rarely are cast - it doesn't work in reverse because white people are ALWAYS afforded this opportunity.

i saw a little while ago that adam (theleaderofthelostboys) said you were one of his best friends. i am so jealous. do you know him irl or just on tumblr? whats he like? do you know his gf? is she cool enough for him? tell us everything!

Adam is awesome.  He’s a really great friend.  Yes I know him in real life, we met through the theatre department at our school.  I’ve only met his girlfriend once, very briefly, but from what I can tell she seems really lovely and she makes him very very happy.  Other than that, Adam’s really chill and pretty open, so if you want to know more, you should probably ask him.

What is your favorite holiday and why? Do you have any siblings? Does the concept of the future scare or excite you? Favorite kind of food to order in? Favorite movie/tv villain? Tell me about your favorite teacher. If you had kids, what would you name them?

1. Halloween. I get to dress up and eat candy and scare young children.

2. Yes, 1 younger sister. I just took a picture of her recently and uploaded it here, haha

3. My future? Scares me shitless. I don't know what to expect or how to go about it, really. The future as a whole? I'm kind of indifferent. Stuff happens and you adapt. I guess I should apply that to my own future.

6. My favorite teacher was a young guy, just turned 30. He never got enough sleep, had twins that were two and kept him up, and so many health problems it was ridiculous. He was grouchy and sarcastic and hated slackers, despite being one himself throughout most of high school. He was probably the most insightful and creative and passionate English teacher I've ever had and he inspired me to write and read more than any other teacher before or after him. He saw tragedies as comedies and he loved, loved student's opinions and actually cared about them. He listened to our interpretations and our insights and instead of shooting them down and forcing us to conform to the basic themes of books written down in standardized tests, he took them and he applied and used them. He treated us like equals, like intellectuals that were just as much willing to learn as we were to teach. If I could have just one more class with him, I would do anything to be in it. Unfortunately, his house got really bad black mold and he got horribly ill and had to move back with his parents in Chicago because their house was too badly infested to save.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Do you prefer to be too hot, or too cold? Have you ever been to any kind of fandom meetup or met anyone from Tumblr? Have you ever cosplayed? What's your favorite smell? What is your favorite childrens book?

1. Beans. I could eat beans forever and ever and ever and never be sick of them. God bless beans.

2. Too hot. I get cold very easy and I'm used to the extreme heat.

3. Nope :/ I would love to go to one. I'm going to Phoenix Comic Con, but idk if that really counts.

4. I went as Fionna on Halloween! Otherwise, nah. I wanna go as Ramona Flowers for PCC, but I haven't read the comics, just saw the movie (which I loved btw)

5. Rubber. Yep.

6. I have a really old and run-down Aesop's Fables book that I've read cover to cover dozens of times. I also really enjoyed my Children's Bible. My favorite story was about Moses travelling down the river in the cradle. I also had a Halloween book I loved, but I don't remember the title of. OH and I read every single one of the Captain Underpants books. I read a lot as kid...I wish I read that much now. I must have read over 100 books from the time I could read and the end of elementary school.

what is your absolute worst nightmare? what's the hardest thing about being a megstiel shipper? if you could be roommates with any celebrity, who would it be?

1. My worst nightmare is losing my friends and family. I don't think I would continue to live if they were gone. The worst nightmare I ever had was when I was 3 and my mom turned into a giant cockroach and ate our house and I've been deathly afraid of the dreaded bugs ever since.

2. Destiel shippers. Not all of them, but a lot of them. Also, the fact that it's a hetero ship. "You must be against gays since you ship hetero people!" Also, since Meg is female and CANONICALLY in love with one half of the biggest fucking ship on Tumblr, she garners a lot of unnecessary hate. Plus, the ship isn't the most popular, although it has been doing better since Goodbye Stranger. So picking one thing that's the hardest is pretty difficult. 

3. I'd say Misha Collins, but I think I'm gonna go with Osric Chau on this one. Young, single (as far as I know), smart, funny, loves Adventure Time, etc. He'd probably help clean up after me and cook and stuff and then we'd fuck every once in awhile

So it would be completely inappropriate to make an accurate movie about minstrel shows in the American south in the 19th century? I feel as though it's a huge, gross parts of American history, and that story just can't be told without including actors in blackface and participating in grotesque racial stereotypes. Is it acceptable to portray blackface in an accurate cultural context? How about in a documentary? It kind of feels like erasing the past, not to be able to ever portray that era.

I'm pretty sure it would still be wrong because it's still white people putting on blackface.

I think a documentary may be acceptable so long as it didn't include people putting on blackface for the documentary (ex. using people who are already doing blackface, using pictures from the era they're discussing, etc).
