Why hello there! For your 4K celebration, I wanted to tell you a few things I love about you and your blog: 1. Your attitude. You always have such a positive and encouraging attitude. I've even seen you respond to negative comments in a graceful and respectful way. Not many people can do that! 2. Your writing (obviously :P). You have a subtle yet hard-hitting way of expressing feelings through it. 3. The way you reach out to everyone. Nobody is off-limits for you. :)

Thank you so much, it means a lot coming from you because I love, appreciate and admire you!!! All of this is so kind to say, thank you so much for being a friend!!!!

To me, you give me a fall vibe. Like the crunch of leaves under your feet, brightly colored scarves, the smell of cinnamon in the air, beautifully vivid leaves and that crisp fall air... It’s the perfect time of year to go explore outside, or curl up indoors in a blanket with a mug of hot apple cider. I dunno, I guess you just seem very cozy and welcoming to me; fall is my favorite season!

Hello!! So my question is... what inspired The Insomnia Code? (Could be other works, or how you thought up the story idea, etc)

So my sister and I tend to tell each other all of our strange dreams (remind me to talk about the Bob Ross one I had sometime). On one such occasion, she told me about a dream she had... I think, if I remember right, that it involved taking animals from somewhere and helping them escape on a school bus? But the part that stood out to her, and me, and the part that inspired the story, was that a cat sitting in her lap turned to her and said “the parameters of the dream are realistic.” And then she woke up.

Our conversation after she told me about the dream involved me going “dude this would be a great story idea.” And we developed a lot of things together! I was the one who thought of the combination of the mind and cyberspace and thus cyber-dreams. She was the one who suggested the Inferno parallels and named the cat-- Virgil. She also helped me think up Dana’s name (the middle name Eligie was her idea). Yes, she will be getting the sole dedication when this book becomes a thing.

Also, fun fact: I did start writing the first chapter once when I was particularly inspired, and that quote from cat in her dream is the first line Virgil says! (It’s here btw if anyone’s interested)

Out of context quote from my WIP, Sin Eater for your "Out of Context" post: "Why does it always have to be fire? I could tear the paper up, I could cut it with scissors, I could do anything to destroy it. But no, it has to be fire. I guess people like the finality of it, how it all turns to ashes. I wonder if their memories turn to ashes as well."

Something that usually helps me is to think of what inspired me to write my WIP in the first place. So what motivated you to write Star Series? What inspired you? I'd love to hear all about it.

This is a hard question for me because I've been working on this series for so long I'm not sure I can remember. I think the first thing I wrote for it (even though it is completely obsolete now) was... almost ten years ago? It's evolved so much and gone through so many changes and reiterations it's hard to pin down, exactly. But I can safely say I was probably inspired by love of sci-fi, my desire for more badass female characters, and my insatiable need to tell stories. Oh and dragons. I wanted to write about dragons.

Those four things definitely still inspire me and keep me going. Along with wanting more friendships between female characters, how much I love creating new worlds and lore, etc. Basically I love creating and I there are certain things I want to see more of in fiction and you know what they say! If you want something done, do it yourself.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What kinds of scenes do you like writing the most?

I really love writing those in-between scenes that aren’t super plot-heavy, but are really important for character things. Just those quiet moments where the characters can have banter and spend time with each other, go off on small adventures that isn’t plot-driven at all, but just the characters being themselves and enjoying each other’s company.

Hello! My first Sleepover Sunday! I mainly just wanted to say hi and that I admire your dedication to the writeblr community. I recently realized that I’ve never had any real life experience with talking about creative things, like my writing or drawing. It’s really cool to have somewhere to do that now... because let me tell ya, it’s so much more awkward when I try in person. 🤣

Thank you so much! It sounds pretty grand and wonderful when you say ‘dedication’ to this community, I personally think it’s more of ‘I don’t have anything better to do with my time!’ (Or maybe an ‘I have a bunch of things I should be doing but I’d rather not’?) Either way, that’s sweet of you to say.

I totally get the awkwardness about talking about things in person. I’ve actually had several bad experiences trying to do that with people I know in real life, so now I am legitimately cannot talk about it with people. I still struggle with doing this a lot — for example, I don’t talk about my stuff a whole lot on here either since I’m still working through it and I’m terrified — but I think the writeblr community is a nice place to get some practice in.

I’m really glad that you have a place to talk about your creative things! You have great ideas and they’re worth talking about :)
