What is Alcohol Intolerance?
Alcohol intolerance is when the body is unable to breakdown alcohol, causing unpleasant reactions after alcohol consumption. Sometimes, it may also be caused by combining alcohol with certain medication.
However, many do not realise that they have alcohol intolerance, ignoring the symptoms and continue consuming alcohol in large amounts. This may lead to serious conditions that require immediate medical help. A serious reaction may actually be a symptom of an underlying health problem or a medication you are taking
In order to prevent further damage from being done to the body, here are some symptoms of alcohol intolerance:
Headache
Nasal swelling and congestion
Pain in the abdomen
Nausea and vomiting
Heartburn
Rapid heartbeat
Hives
Difficulties in breathing
One way to curb the symptoms of alcohol intolerance is to let the body get used to consumption of alcohol by taking small amounts of alcohol every day. However, if one is still experiencing the symptoms of alcohol intolerance, it is best to fully stop alcohol consumption.
