I wanna know who chose the Jades' courtesy names. And I have two theories:

Madam Lan and Qingheng-Jun each picked one, in which case he let her go first.

Lan Qiren picked both and their names reflect his descent into extremism as a coping mechanism for his trauma.

Why do I say this?

Xichen means "chancellor of the morning sun". Which is very grand and all, but it's basically deciding that "sunshine' will be your kid's professional sobriquet.

And then Wangji is derived from a Daoist phrase meaning "to be free from worldly concerns".

Either way, I can't help but chuckle at the idea of Lan Qiren introducing the boys:

"There's are my nephews, Sunshine🥰 and Daoism😐✨."
