Who asks the other on dates: Darian, and always like he did the first time he asked her: all nervous and when she’s least paying attention (eheh).Who is the bigger cuddler: Stevie, though Darian quite enjoys it.Who initiates holding hands more often: Surprisingly, Darian.Who remembers anniversaries: They’re both pretty good remembering dates.Who is more possessive: It would depend on what the thing to possess is?Who gets more jealous: Darian can be quite a jealous guy within reason, though I can see Stevie being the jealous type every now and then.Who is more protective: Both are, though Darian’s more vocal about it.Who is more likely to cheat: NEITHER. At least, Darian sure wouldn’t. Who initiates sexy times the most: Whoever’s in the mood at the moment things get initiated, I would say.Who dislikes PDA the most: Darian.Who kills the spider: Darian.Who asks the the other to marry them: Darian because he’s quite old fashion in certain ways.Who buys the other flowers or gifts: Both get each other things here and there. Though Darian sees it fit to say he isn’t the type to buy anyone flowers.Who would bring up possibly having kids: Neither? I kind of picture it happening unexpectedly?Who is more nervous to meet the parents: Stevie.Who sleeps on the couch when the other is angry: Darian would volunteer, to be honest. Who tries to make up first after arguments: Would depend who was least angry.Who tells the other they love them more often: Stevie would maybe be more vocal about it, and Darian not as much though he’d demonstrate it for sure.

Ghosts of the Present

Darian kicked the front door shut behind him, then slowly proceeded through the living room and down the main hallway to his room. He dropped his backpack at the foot of the bed, then rummaged through some drawers for some clean clothes and made his way into the bathroom, praying a shower would help clear his mind a bit. Once he hoped out of the shower and changed he exited the bathroom and plopped down on his bed, exhaustion making its presence known in every muscle of his body. With the little energy he had left Darian reached for his cellphone, and scanned through his contacts until he found Stevie’s name.

His thumbs hesitated for a moment, dancing over the letters as he contemplated mentioning how good her company might do him at the moment, but after another second passed he decided against it and hit send.  He left the phone on the pillow beside him so he wouldn’t miss it if it rang, then focused his eyes on the ceiling. His entire being felt numb, tired, useless.  Who knew losing a hero and parent could hurt so much? It’s just not something anyone ever expects on experiencing. Something Darian simply wished hadn’t actually happened.
