“meat me in the dining hall. 3pm.”
felix was careful to make his handwriting as authentic to how it was in third grade as possible. while he wouldn’t necessarily admit it, felix had been almost scoping adie out after first spotting her as a counselor. it was especially odd to see his neighbor after he had spent some time away from his childhood home in attempts to avoid his parents. while his home life often brought up concerning thoughts due to his situation with college, adie seemed to be the one reminder that he could stand. more so, she was the one reminder and person that he wanted to bring back in his life.
although slipping someone a note with no name could be seen as creepy, it made felix feel nostalgic and sentimental to the point where all creepiness was erased for him. he discreetly slipped her the note during the breakfast rush in the dining hall, attempting to flee the scene as quickly as possible after a wave of embarrassment and fear rushed over him. while parts of him hoped that adie would show up and remember the note, he also knew that it was plausible for her to forget and not show up. he spent the rest of the day shifting between the two mindsets.
as it was about to turn three o’clock, felix quickly rushed to the dining hall without giving it a second thought. he waited patiently and studied the architecture of the dining hall in attempts to distract himself from the anxiety that wavered over him. just as he laid eyes on an the most interesting beam yet, felix heard a floorboard creak behind him. he took a deep breath and quickly turned to face the entrance, hoping it was the person that he had given the note to.
