he is not a Shadowscale but was instead born into the Dark Brotherhood directly. he's been the Listener for almost half of his life, which solely consisted of killing for the glory of Sithis before encountering the Caravan. he's abandoned his sanctuary and started ignoring the Night Mother, drawing the ire of the Black Hand. you can imagine how well that's going for him
