hi!! i’ve been lurking a bit and i’m super into the vibes here but i was wondering how applying for a location would work? like if i had an idea for a character that hinges on a new location, would that be okay to send in?

Just be sure to include the Wanted Location Application at the end of your app when you send it in. That way we have all the info we need in one place! We just ask that any new locations feel like a natural fit for Bleeding Hearts Springs; something that complements the town’s cozy, rural setting. So while something like a pilates studio might feel more at home in a big city, a craft shed/artist shack, a family-run cider press(?), or a little holistic shop could be perfect. What’s the general attitude of locals toward out-of-towners?

Great question! For the most part, locals in Bleeding Hearts Springs are welcoming to out-of-towners, pretty curious to learn why they're here, why they decided to stay. That said, some folks are a little more wary than others. This is a close-knit, homegrown kind of town, after all. Idyllic, sure!, but built on farming roots and longtime community ties. Plenty of “flown-ins” (as some like to call them) come in on the breeze and flutter right back out once the shine wears off. So when someone new sticks around? Folks tend to take notice, watching to see if they can weather a winter or two.

How do you define city transplant character? Like they are brand new to the valley or have only lived there for X amount of years?

Hi there! A city transplant character is someone who’s recently moved to the valley from outside, particularly from a more metropolitan setting. If your muse was born elsewhere but has lived in Bleeding Hearts Springs long enough to feel like a local, that’s totally fine! We just like to keep the number of newer arrivals limited, since a big part of the setting is the dynamic of a close-knit, rural community. That “newcomer adjusting to small-town life” experience can be really fun to explore, but we want to make sure it stays special and doesn’t outweigh the roots and connections that define the town.

So for the event, are there like specific little events happening? There's the dances in the square and the crowning of the queen event, but the costumes and horse riding, are there specific events like a race or a costume contest or something like that? Just trying to get a better picture of what there is to do for plotting.

Yep, alongside the dancing and the crowning ceremony, there’ll be smaller activities sprinkled throughout the event, like a costume walk, horse rides (no races this time!), and some classic festival activities folks can use for interactions. Hi! I'm looking to apply and I wanted to see what might be needed or wanted at Clover Creek Ranch! I'd love to write a horse trainer or something but I don't want to overstep or do something that wouldn't fit.

Hey there! Thanks so much for checking in—no worries at all, you wouldn't be overstepping! A horse trainer would be a fantastic fit for Clover Creek Ranch! The stables are one of the more active parts of town, and there’s definitely room for a character who’s hands-on with the horses. We've been itching to see someone over there! Since you asked about other roles, though, here's a quick list: Stable Manager – Keeps the operation running day to day. Handles bookings, lesson schedules, horse care rotations... basically, the person who knows where the duct tape is. General Stablehand – Feeding, grooming, stall mucking, fence mending… not glamorous! But the backbone of the place. Ranch Hand – Similar to a stablehand, but more focused on the ranch side: equipment upkeep, supply runs into the inner part of the town, things of that nature.

to answer your question: you absolutely won’t be missing out on anything vital by not joining the Discord. all writing takes place exclusively on the Tumblr dash—no IC Discord threads, we promise! all events, announcements, and plot-relevant updates are posted right to the dash, and we make sure to DM anything important to players who aren’t on Discord.

that said, a lot of casual OOC chatting and plotting does happen in the server, so it can be a nice way to connect with other players and get ideas flowing. but if Discord’s not your thing, that’s totally okay! you’re still fully welcome and encouraged to join the group, and if you ever need help connecting with other players or need help just in general, you can always reach out to either me or Admin Eve—we’d be happy to help however we can.
