Hiya folks! It's been a minute! The Springs has been slowly, sleepily moving its way into the summer, and the days are as long as the sun is hot. Wouldn't it just liven the place up if we saw some new faces on the dash? Sure as sugar would brighten up my day! I'll be online if you've got a question for me or if you want Admin Eve-- Shucks, I guess I could pass it along to her.

Sometimes, summer in the Springs feels like something out of a dream. Hot cobblestone steaming from dropped lemonade, soft fields that are perfect for naps as long as you're not directly under that Virginia sun, and nights so warm, so heady, you forget time exists. We’re keeping the doors wide open for characters who want to belong, or for ones who swore they’d never come back and did anyway. Come write with us!

We’ve got a handful of locations in town that are wide open and looking for someone to breathe life into them: someone to slice meat behind the butcher’s counter, run a ticket booth at the old theater, or sort letters at the station’s post office! There’s talk around town that the Old King of the Lake walks the shore again come summer. Superstition or truth? That’s for you to decide! We love characters who lean into the magic or mystery of the Springs... even if it’s just a fisherman who swears he saw something strange at dawn.
The Moonlight Carnival is on its way back to Bleeding Hearts Springs! It'll be sudden, like it always is: trailers parked just past the treeline, tents raised like they’ve always been here. Some folks say it’s the same every year. Others swear something new shows up every time: a ride that wasn’t there before, a stranger with a too-familiar face, a fortune that hits a little too close to home. Want to find out what goes on when the lights come on?
Just one train ride over, the bigger city’s ramping up their rodeos and fairs, complete with saddleback bronc riding and lawnmower races. Some locals say it’s worth the trip, others grumble about the noise. Still, if your muse has reason to cross county lines (or gets tempted by what really goes on outside of the Springs), be sure to grab them a train ticket and a good, wide-brim hat! Who knows what (or who) they’ll bring back with them?
The sun’s finally sticking around a little longer, and Bleeding Hearts Springs is starting to stretch out its limbs. Summer is creeping in, and you know what that means: more barefoot mornings, more late-night wandering, and a whole lot more folks dropping by town! If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to jump in, consider this your sign!
hi!! i’ve been lurking a bit and i’m super into the vibes here but i was wondering how applying for a location would work? like if i had an idea for a character that hinges on a new location, would that be okay to send in?
We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying the vibes! Yes, you’re absolutely welcome to pitch a new location as part of your character application! Just be sure to include the Wanted Location Application at the end of your app when you send it in. That way we have all the info we need in one place! We just ask that any new locations feel like a natural fit for Bleeding Hearts Springs; something that complements the town’s cozy, rural setting. So while something like a pilates studio might feel more at home in a big city, a craft shed/artist shack, a family-run cider press(?), or a little holistic shop could be perfect. Just for some examples! If you’re not sure whether your idea fits, feel free to reach out! Me or Admin Eve would be more than happy to chat it through with you!
What’s the general attitude of locals toward out-of-towners?
Great question! For the most part, locals in Bleeding Hearts Springs are welcoming to out-of-towners, pretty curious to learn why they're here, why they decided to stay. That said, some folks are a little more wary than others. This is a close-knit, homegrown kind of town, after all. Idyllic, sure!, but built on farming roots and longtime community ties. Plenty of “flown-ins” (as some like to call them) come in on the breeze and flutter right back out once the shine wears off. So when someone new sticks around? Folks tend to take notice, watching to see if they can weather a winter or two.

howdy! i would consider us a fairly active rp; the dash moves every day, and we try to roll out events and mini-events often to give our writers something to enjoy!
