Hello, I was wondering about posting treats- is it alright to add it to my main assignment in additional chapters? my medium is fanart, so I don't think it'd be good to clog up ao3 with multiple works of a single image each. would it be alright to divide them by (#1 main assignment #2 treats) or ships or content(sfw/nsfw)?
First, Nonny, please write this down and put it on your vision board: fanart is a valid work to be on AO3 and you are not clogging anything up! You should post as many works as necessary to appropriately tag.
Please keep in mind that AO3's searching and filters are designed so that users can find the right work for them based on rating, character, pairing, additional tags, etc!Works featuring different ratings, ships, etc are meant to be separate for ease of search and filtering. Relatedly, authors should not be posting drabble "collections" as a single work either, even though many of them feel like they are "clogging up" AO3 as well.
As for whether it's okay to post a SFW and NSFW version of the same work - YES! Authors do this too!
Ultimately you can post however you are comfortable, but you should know that your works are valid and appropriate to be featured on AO3 and I will personally fight anyone who accuses you of "clogging up" anything.
General AO3 posting philosophy and encouragement aside, per the exchange rules:
your assigned gift should be a separate work only for your assigned recipient
additional treats may be posted as you see fit, but everyone who is added as a recipient needs to have requested those pairings, not have a DNW for ANY of the art in that works' contents, and needs to be okay with receiving that rating. Given those guidelines, you should seriously consider posting them as separate works
