Event Update!

It seems like there has been a double booking at the hotel where Akamai Boarding School had planned prom. There is an open gala for students/adults who aren’t attending prom. The school is doing it’s best to keep both events separate.....

This alternative event was made by the admins so alumni/students who aren’t going to prom/ citizens of new york /akamai rp can be involved in the drama coming up so no one is excluded! The events will be right next door to each other with only a door in between so people can go in and out of both!

YJFicExchange Mini Big Bang

After a poll of the YJ fandom, it was decided yjficexchange’s next event would be a Mini Big Bang! 

A Big Bang is a fandom event where authors and artists work together to create something great! The author writes a fic and the artist creates an accompanying piece of artwork. Typically, Big Bang fics are over at least 10k words, but because this event is only two months+ long (and during the school year) the minimum length has been reduced to 5k (though longer fics would be great, too!) 

The purpose of this Mini Big Bang is to bring the fandom together, writers and artists, as we continue to celebrate the return of our favorite Team! 

A quick rundown:

Timeline: April 1st–June 20th

Minimum Fic Length of 5k

Minimum One piece of art per story

Prizes (graphics) will be given to on-time participants.

Fic content is entirely up to the author, as long as it is about Young Justice, the submitted prompt has the Mod’s approval, and it follows the yjficexchange’s community guidelines. Art must also be within the guidelines. 

Signups are due April 1st for writers and April 10th for artists.

Guidelines for Writers:

Fill out this Participation form. 

IMPORTANT: Open your inbox or IMs for Mod Check ins. Mod will message you when your form has been accepted.  

For Check Ins, the Mod will ask to see your progress on your fic. Google Doc links would be appreciated to facilitate this process, but if you don’t want to use a Google Doc, you may message the Mod and email them your draft.

RE: Check Ins, do not feel bad if you don’t have a lot of progress to show at check in time. the writing process is different for everyone. Check Ins are only meant to help you if you need beta-like input to help you keep up and keep writing. 

Mod is available to Beta your fic and leave comments upon request. 

Posting Guidelines follow previous yjficexchange rules, which can also be found in the Mission Briefing.

Post fic on Tumblr, making sure to tag this page and your artist. (ex. I wrote this for the @yjficexchange Mini Big Bang! @blank made art that goes with it!)

If longer than 1k, put a majority of the fic under a Read More. 

Message yjficexchange or icanhearyouglaring with a link to your fic.

Your fic will then be reblogged and tagged according to your event. If no link is on the post, Mod will add a link to the accompanying artwork. Please try to ask your artist for a link before you post. 

Artists will be assigned to you and will require an outline from you so they can start drawing the accompanying artwork, even if you are not close to finishing your fic.

For Check Ins, the Mod will ask to see a sketch or draft of your work that will go with the fic. They will also be available to help with any questions you may have for the author of the fic or your work.

Post on Tumblr, tagging @yjficexchange​ and the fic author in the post. 

Message @yjficexchange​ or @icanhearyouglaring with a link to your post. 

Mod will reblog your art to the blog and tag it accordingly, and add a link to the fic it goes with.

Timeline for Writers: 

April 1st: Participation form due.

April 7th: Check in #1 (suggested to have an outline along with your draft)

April 14th: Check in #2  , and Artist Assignment. 

May 5th: Check in #3 

May 15th: Check in #4 

May 25th: Final Check in and Mod Beta-ing (if requested).

June 20th: Stories due (you may post if you finish before this date). 

Timeline for Artists:

April 10th: Participation form due. 

April 14th: Artist Assignments given.

April 30th: Check in #1.

May 10th: Check in #2.

May 20th: Final Check in and check in with author.

Artwork may be posted before the author posts the fic, but please communicate with the writer on this so they can add a link to the art on their post.

Special News

I'll be announcing all the details for a special challenge event on March 1st!

OPERATION VALENTINE: Your mission is to be a flying, projectile-shooting, fic-writing baby and fire a fic at one lucky sap out there this Valentine’s Day! Young Justice has so many ships with such creative ship names, so let’s celebrate our OTPs, threes, and infinities with a fic exchange full of love! 

After the secret santa exchange (fics can be read here!), some of the rules have changed and new instructions have been posted on the Mission Briefing Page! 

HERE is the signup form and it must be filled out by January 13th!  Assignments will be given out on Jan 14th! Please sign up ASAP so you don’t forget and miss out on this fun event!

There are only 8 fics yet to be posted! If you haven’t gotten yours yet, I will be messaging remaining authors (who haven’t already talked to me) about fic progress.
