Adopt Spotlight: Falling Rain

Falling Rain | 42 moons | SunClan Hunter | She/Her AFAB

Felling Rain is a sabress that's worth her word. She doesn't back down when she knows she has the upper hand and doesn't hesitate to be one step ahead. Sometimes a bit stubborn, Falling Rain is very determined and straight forward, always looking to be a good example for her clanmates, specially the younger generation, be them family or not.

Granted, sometimes it might lead to her putting her foot down and holding steady over decisions she knows aren't quite the right choice, but backing down and admitting defeat comes with a hard hit she's not keen to taking most of the time. Some say she's extremely argumentative, but Rain doesn't mean to come off as strong as she does, something she's been trying to work on.

She was named after the hunting technique she tirelessly worked to master, falling from the tree tops on her prey in a feat of great skill and stealth. It's something she prides herself on quite a lot, always open to teach other sabers on how to perfect the technique themselves.

Having always dreamed of being the head of her own family since she was little, Rain never quite found that another that connected to her quite like she looked for. Her grandfather, Roaring Pine, was always there to offer his advice and guide her through her woes, but it never felt like she would get there. That was until she got closer to Swift Fire, that is. After her mate Silent Wind passed away, Falling Rain couldn't help but be there and offer her support. The two had been friends for many moons, but they never relied on each other as much as they did on that moment. It was shortly after the passing that Swift Fire discovered she was pregnant. The two were growing closer, and so Falling Rain offered to be there for Fire and the cubs. One thing led to another, and the two became mates officially.

Species Spotlight: Elephants

The dry savanna of the Baobab region is where the mighty TuskClan makes their home, choosing to spend their time on more infrequent, but much larger, hunting practices.

One of these animals that TuskClan territory is home to, and arguably the most important to them, are the elephants that roam in herds. When it comes to big teeth, they’re just about as big as they get, and game recognizes game in the harsh savannas.

Hunting elephants is a time-honored tradition amongst batches of TuskClan sabers, seen as the best and biggest of catches, though don’t let that fool you. TuskClan cats are extremely careful about not overhunting any one kind of animal, especially the elephants, and their hunts are well-planned and well-executed.

As a keystone species of the savanna, elephants are ecosystem-changers that are best known for trampling down thick grasses and digging temporary watering holes around the otherwise dry land. TuskClan’s camp was created around such a watering hole (though this one is much more permanent) and in the leader’s cave, there sits a pair of decorated elephant’s tusks, said to have belonged to the very creature that brought Tuskstar to the clan’s new home.

Adopt Spotlight: Boulderpaw

Boulderpaw | 7 moons | Hunter Apprentice | He/Him AMAB

Boulderpaw is a young saber with a whole life ahead of him. Of course, he’s just taken the first steps of becoming an apprentice along with his batch. Boulderpaw is determined to be the best he can be, putting all his bravery and strength and leadership forward. Or… at least he’s trying to. With Buffalostar as his dad, the Clan leader, he can’t help but feel like he’s gotta be the best of the best.

Others don’t really treat him differently for it, or expect more of him compared to the others, but… Boulderpaw can’t help but feel that way. A lot of uncertainty clouds his mind sometimes, even if his batch is there to support him. What if his dad is disappointed? What if he’s not as good as a hunter as he should be? Still, not everything is worrying and doubt for Boulderpaw. He’s quite playful with his batchmates and loves spending time with them no matter what, chasing meerkats and playing hog tag when they can.

Life was a little bit rougher at the start for Boulder, a challenge coming sooner than any young cub should face. Unfortunately, his mother, Fernwing, passed away a few days after giving birth to him, the process being too much on her body to handle. Boulderkit had to be nursed by another sabress, who’d given birth just around the same time. Sandcloud was more than happy to help care for him, giving the little one as much love as she did her own cub, Slothkit.

Buffalostar was always present, his insistence to be there for his cub when his mother couldn't. Perhaps more than the regular TuskClan parent, he sought to be there for Boulderkit as much as he could.

Species Spotlight: Sunsquirrels

The Baobab’s jungle regions are home to SunClan, the tree-leaping sabers who have learned from the colorful Sunsquirrels that populate their territory in the ways of flying without wings.

Tree-leaping (also called “flying” and “gliding” by clan members) has always been an important part of SunClan culture, ever since their first leader, Sunlit Squirrel, found themselves totally fascinated by the creatures’ locomotion and set out to do it themselves.

Keystone species of the jungle ecosystem they lay claim to, Sunsquirrels are first and foremost pollinators of all layers of the territory, from the canopies to the jungle floor. Pollen from jungle flowers collects on their shimmering pelts and is distributed as they leap from tree to tree, keeping SunClan’s territory as colorful as the squirrels who live there.

The Sunsquirrels are considered protected by SunClan, ever the superstitious bunch, and are forbidden to be hunted. Generations of good treatment by the sabers has led the squirrels to not fear the large cats, and sabers can enjoy going to clearings in their territory to watch the squirrels “dance” as they leap in groups across the sky. Apprentices and adults alike in SunClan show their skills by mimicking the Sunsquirrels and often have Canopy Races across the treetops, and many of their holidays feature some sort of tree-climbing event in their honor.

Adopt Spotlight: Swift Fire

Swift Fire | 45 Moons | Hunter | She/They AFAB

Warm and bright as her namesake, Swift Fire is a sweet sabress with what many would consider a heart of gold. Seen by her clanmates as a caring and kind hunter, Fire will make sure those she cares for are well and be there for them, even if it becomes a little overbearing. She means well, of course, but sometimes it keeps her from being more aware.

Following their heart since she was a young apprentice, it didn't come as a surprise when they became mates with Silent Wind, their bond and closeness clear to many in the Clan. They were the moon to their stars, one's smile reflecting in the other's. They were not a perfect couple by any means, but the Clan was happy for their connection and blessed them as they came together.

It was when the two finally felt ready to start their family that they decided to have cubs. Unfortunately for them, not too long after, in a patrol with other guardians, Silent Wind suddenly felt ill and fell out of the canopy. Swift Fire's grief was felt throughout the Clan- she was destroyed, there was no doubt about it.

Shortly after, she discovered the news. They were expecting Silent Wind's cubs. The hunter wept, a whirlwind of emotions all at once. If it wasn't for Falling Rain, Fire was sure they wouldn't be able to go through it. The sabress support held them strong, and with every day, they felt closer to Rain.

Now Shade is here, a splitting image of his sire, their structure of their life as a new family coming together slowly and, hopefully, well.

Adopt Spotlight: Shade

Shade | 8 Moons | SunClan Hunter Apprentice | He/Him AMAB

Young and bright, Shade is a rather calm and quiet saber, always smiling silently around his family and friends. He's a listener more than he is a speaker, with great observation skills. Quite great, actually. Shade is a lot smarter than he may look, picking up on small things many don't expect him to. Great skills for an apprentice, hm?

Still, there's no doubt Shade is extremely close to his mothers, maybe even too much, in a way. He's gotten better now as an apprentice, but the young cub was never too many steps far from Swift Fire at all times. How could he not, after all? His mother's love was the warmest thing there ever was, and she wanted to be with him too. Why would he say no, after all?

With the passage of time, the young saber could sense the weird aura around his mothers sometimes, not at anything in particular. He could never quite put his paw on it, but it never leaves his mind whenever it happens. Was it something with him? Or maybe something he did. What would it be though? Shade's not sure. Nevertheless, he continues loving Swift Fire and Falling Rain with all his heart.

Adopt Spotlight: Leaf that Floats in River

Leaf that Floats in River | 30 Moons | BevyClan Guardian | He/They, AMAB

Leaf that Floats in River is a hardworking young Guardian who's determined to live up to their expectations. Always training when possible, up to challenges and never backing down from a good competition, they're aiming to be ahead of the curve when they can be. Not everything is work though! Leaf is still a young saber and having fun with friends and other clanmates is never off the table.

It might be a bit of a challenge to get him off work and training to have fun sometimes, but a bit of coaxing and teasing always comes through. Some may call Leaf a workaholic, but they like to believe they're just more dedicated than most.

Leaf that Floats in River has the high-pressure esteem that comes with being chosen as the apprentice of a powerful legacy line. His mentor, the last Watcher of the Flooded Delta, a powerful Guardian, who was trained by a previous Watcher of the Flooded Delta, who was trained by a previous, and so on. He wasn’t sure if he had any of those aspirations himself beyond becoming a guardian, but the prestige was there, and it was heavy on his pelt.

He considered himself to be a very typical BevyClan saber, striving to be the best guardian they could be. He was well-liked, and worked hard to live up to the reputation of his mentor. But their pride, that was what got the better of them.

It was an accident at the crocodile pond, two moons before their guardian assessment was set to take place. The details are lost to them, but it doesn’t matter. The outcome was always the same in their nightmares.

He had gotten his mentor, his leader, killed. A shame he now had to stack on top of his prestige.

Appearance took a place over any disdain the deputy, the past Delta’s first apprentice and new Watcher of the Flooded Delta, held for Leaf. They finished his training and sent him on his way. He had to figure out what life without his mentor meant to him, along with the guilt of it being his fault trailing behind him everywhere he went.

One moon ago saw Leaf getting some reprieve from their efforts. They had been throwing themself into their training when the monarchs pulled him aside, and told him they wanted him to take on his first apprentice, an honor Leaf had worried he would never receive.

And now his number one goal is to see Beam that Bounces off Water to guardianhood, to prove that he has what it takes to be a mentor, and to make both the current Delta and the one before them proud.

Adopt Spotlight: Cracklepaw

Cracklepaw | 6 Moons | TuskClan Hunter Apprentice | They/Them AMAB

A young lively saber, Cracklepaw is the smile of the group. Enthusiastic and ever curious, they love to learn and trying new things despite whatever challenges may come. Always asking questions, big or small, they're quite the chatty one and doesn't hesitate to speak on their new thoughts and ideas.

They're quite creative, fond of listening to elder's tales and maybe coming up with their own sometimes, setting their batch as companions off in an adventure. That being said, it's hard to get Cracklepaw to hunker down and be a little more serious. They can do it, but often with a little struggle. Crackle's emotions may get the best of them sometimes, but they trust their batch to help them out.

Born in the same litter as Flutterpaw, Crackle was a small surprise when the monarchs realized how they lacked one of their front legs. It was heard of, but not very common. Nevertheless, that made no difference in the Clan's eyes- Crackle was a delightful and healthy cub, and that's all that mattered.

As they grew, Flutter voiced her interest in becoming a healer. Crackle themself started to think- what did they want to do? On one paw, the idea of becoming an awesome guardian was always something that delighted them. To protect those they love, and look cool while doing it, or follow their love for painting, sparked with every streak of paint they left in the nursery walls. To be a painter, learnt the Clan's history and add to the Mosaic cave's stories. Well, they'll have some time to decide, at least!
