Posted @withrepost • @nycscr We received a few urgent messages from various people & a wonderful rescue colleague late yesterday about 2 dogs in desperate need. When we saw the video of how these 2 dogs were living, and their condition, we broke down and dropped everything to get them. Jimmy & Tammy (we renamed them), were chained to a wall, in an apartment in the Bronx, living in their own feces & urine, no one knew when the last time they ate was. They are both emaciated, every bone in their frail bodies is protruding, & the smell of them was rancid. The neighbors were also very upset about the lives these dogs were living. The “ owner” claimed they belonged to a relative who died a year ago. How anyone can look at 2 starving dogs everyday, & not feed them, or take them out, or unchain them, is completely incomprehensible. Playing devils advocate, to rescue them from their “ living hell” was well worth it. Tammy Fay as emaciated as she is, is pregnant. Both dogs have skin infections from sleeping in their own waste & their feet/nails are “cage feet” with nails so long they curl under. Easily 20 pounds underweight, & frail. Neither Jimmy nor Tammy have ever been outside nor been to the vet. Having never seen the light of day yet they were scolded every time they eliminated indoors. We arrived on the scene last night and every time we took a step, urine splashed up at us & we were stepping on piles of both new & old feces, yet both of these dogs wiggly and loving- attention starved. We left their rusty chains behind & loaded them in our vehicles . Each of them curled up in a ball on each of our laps in 2 different cars. Once we stopped we gave them their first meal & the meal was gone in less than 5 seconds. Jimmy is 1 yrs old & Tammy is 3 yrs old, they are getting checked out at the hospital right now.
