I’m finally done with the linework for this picture I drew a couple months ago in a bet that I could draw Ahri way cuter than her in-game model, and decided to add Annie in as well. ;D Take that, mister challenger.

They’re skipping to school on their first day. (It’s a joined Elementary, Middle, and High Private school!)

PPI is enormous since I’m planning on making this a print!

Hi Courtney! I am about to start a job at a mall. Do you have any tips for me about working at malls, maybe? Thanks a bunch! :D

THIS IS A REALLY CUTE ASK

so okay, the cool thing about working at a mall is paling around with the other mall employees--this was especially easy when i worked at cvs because all the mall employees were going to be in there anyway, but even when i worked in the children’s clothing store in the weird far-off corner of the mall i was around the rest of the mall enough that people started to recognize me?

I MEAN really this depends on how extroverted you are; it’s totally possible to just kind of exist and do your job and call it a day, BUT if you really like people like i do and you’re interested in the social aspect then really the big tip is just don’t be a stranger! say hello to the people who work the kiosks in the hall you have to pass through on the way to your store, make small talk with everyone you get your lunch from at the food court, when you go shopping in other stores in the mall make idle conversation and when it’s relevant drop a “i work at ___ (so i feel that/so i get that all the time/so i notice it too/etc.),” chat up the security guards (you get all sorts of juicy gossip befriending the security guards ehehe!!! and if you end up with total dead zones like my tourist trap island does in the winter, you might end up with them loitering in your store and talking with you when you’re otherwise so bored you’re ready to die), learn the faces of who else works in the mall even if you don’t really know where offhand and smile and wave when you pass them by

you don’t necessarily have to know anyone’s name, either, which is cool? maybe like five of the people i regularly say hello to in the whole mall, i know the names of, and none of them know my name either because i never wore my name tag at cvs, ever, at all. a lot of them, entirely independently of each other, call me "sunshine,” which is cute. one of the dunks girls calls me “simple girl” because i will show up and order literally just a donut like “no no drink or anything, thank you. keeping it simple.” cute nicknames are acceptable and encouraged

also, practically speaking: learn the layout of your mall really well because you are going to be asked for directions to every other store in there all the time (and also: if you’re familiar with the other stores and a customer comes in looking for a thing you don’t have, you can recommend them to another store. if you know the people working there you can ask the customer to tell them hi for you)

know where all the dumpsters are too, goodness gracious, i promise you knowing where to get rid of your trash and recycling will make things SO MUCH EASIER. if your store has offsite storage, know where that is, too

use the service entrances as shortcuts all the time. don’t worry, no one is going to question you; you have free rein over the “employees only all others constitute trespass” hallways and the doors outside that lead to them; you are an employee, they are yours, utilize them. i bring my non-mall friends through them all the time in big packs tbh and no one cares

some mall food places will offer discounts to mall employees? in my mall like half the food court does or did. it’s worth asking about, and if you’re embarrassed to ask the stranger ringing up your shitty mall thai food then ask some other miscellaneous retail worker you have befriended

also oh god don’t live off mall food...don’t do that...... put in the effort to pack your own lunches as often as you are able to, i beg of you; living off mall food is so expensive and it’s not fun. you might have the soup/salad/sandwich place that has the best soup in the world once, MAYBE twice a week!!!! make an exception for your favorite soup but for the love of god bring in your own food whenever you can. if your store doesn’t have a minifridge and/or a microwave get school lunchbox-style icepacks and a thermos. please you deserve so much better than subway sandwiches all day every day, you will be SO MUCH HAPPIER if you don’t even FALL INTO THE HABIT

learn where the vending machines are tho because sometimes you deserve sodas and candy

once you start working at the mall you are going to get so tired of the building so fast. find other places to do your shopping whenever possible or you will go mad. never let your friends convince you to hang out at the mall YOU ALWAYS HANG OUT THERE, YOU WORK THERE, YOU DESERVE BETTER

honestly i joke a lot, especially with the other mall employees, about hating the mall and wanting to claw my way out of it, but like...it’s not so bad? for me this is in large part because of the social aspect but you meet and work with a lot of interesting people when you work in a mall. i’m genuinely really happy to have acquired my mall social circle! i really like it and i’m glad i work at the mall that i do so can have that!!! malls are a very good place for a people person to be.

It takes a long time for wisdom teeth wounds to heal because they are deep. Mine bled and oozed for many days after, you have to take it in strides and eat carefully! Please take it slow. People will understand!

waaaahhhhhh it's so gross though,,,, everyone's been super understanding but i want to get back to doing things like being in school and laughing without feeling like my #stitches are gonna fall apart and eating solid #food
