We gotta talk about this old dude! This is Teddy! 🐻 Teddy was dumped at an LA Shelter when his “family” moved away. The kicker? This guy is almost 2 years old 🤦♀️ That’s geriatric in the hamster world! We took this old guy in a little while ago with the intention of rehoming him to understanding new parents, but he didn’t get adopted right away. At this point, Teddy is just too old to go to a new home and he has stolen our hearts completely anyway. So, we’re committed to providing him with tons of love, a huge cage, and access to any medical care that might come up as he ages. ❤️ Why am I telling you all this? Because this is what #animalrescue and #ethicalbreeding is about. Everything we do is in the best interest of the animals and we take full responsibility for their well-being—no matter what, no matter where they come from, no matter how long that may be, and with the understanding that sometimes their care plan has to change. Took Gus Gus in to the vet! 👨⚕️ 🏥 Just wanted to pop him in for a checkup. We know he has hydrocephalus and a cleft lip, but he also has some testicular problems (or lack thereof)—his testicles receded when he was a few months old and uh. . .haven’t been seen again? Truly odd. He also has a problem with his penis, as it tends to get stuck outside of the prepuce. We talked about all of it and check on his heart and lungs. Gus Gus looks, sounds, and is acting very healthy! The testicle issue will be something to watch, but given his other deformities, we think it may just be a problem with his anatomy. Of course we will continue working closely with our vet though!
