its been too long since wrote anything. i just couldnt get the perfect inspiration to write anything but now i am finally back. I promise my other series will also be updated very soon.
There might be a few errors . sorry for that . constructive criticism is always welcomed .
p.s.- this is a mini series taking up from the incidents after the battle at the met with gauis and then following mc's death. This takes place in same AU as 'a tale of always and forever' .
Absence.
The lack of something or someone.
It is easy to describe the theoretical meaning of this word, but when it comes to experiencing it, it is not easy at all. Infact it is anything but easy.
But absence.
It is all he is left with.
The absence of her is everywhere he looks, its like a huge whole has been punched through his heart, but in a way it is the only way to remember she was real, that it was not his imagination.
He was afraid that the only good he had in his life was fake, he was afraid that he might realise that this was all dear imagination.
But in a way he wanted it to be a dream, cause if it was a dream he will wake up to her beautiful face and her heavenly smell, then he can forget all the things that happened.
But now fate loved to play with him hated to see him happy. Him being happy was something that the world hated. Something that he couldn’t be. Something that he could never have cause it wasn’t meant for him.
By now Adrian has accepted the fact that he could never have what his desired and this heart desired happiness, it desired love, but now how can he get that wouldn’t that be against the world.
He could never be happy while the only thing no -scratch that- the only person, that made him truly happy that made him whole was not with him and now could never be.
He held her, held his world, his happiness, his Amy in his arms as the life left her eyes and she pleaded not wanting to go.
When she closed her eyes it was like she took something with her she took a part of him, a part of his soul, of his heart.
Now standing in front of her grave, after burying her, it all hit him with a force, a force so strong that it crushed him, it crushed his already broken soul.

That quote, she read him from the book ‘the book thief’ and instantly declared it as her favourite, he never knew why she loved it so much. According to him death was cruel and had no heart, it was ruthless, it was something that took so much from him, but to her she noted death as a new beginning a change to meet their lost ones, the ones who were never forgotten by time and a chance to have a new start, finding peace.
But he didn’t believe that even a bit she wasn’t supposed to leave them she was supposed to live, there was so much for her to see and so much to learn she was taken to early from them.
Adrian didn’t realise that it had started to rain and he was drenched until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned back to see it was her eldest brother Christopher.
“ you should go back its been a long a day , you should rest , I and Nathaniel will make sure everything is done here. “ and gave Adrian a slight sympathetic smile.
He couldn’t say anything but give a slight nod , but how could he say anything to this man in front him, he just lost his sister, he lost his princess, the girl he grew up with, the girl he practically raised by his own hands. He knew his grief was greater than anyone else’s.
‘ how can Christopher stomach to look at me let alone show me sympathy. After all I failed to protect his sister. I am the fucking reason his sister is dead, I promised him to protect her but I failed. Guess it runs in the blood, just like Amy, Chris also have a big heart. ‘ he thought to himself.
Chris told him that he understands that what Amy did was her choice. He said that he knew no one could have stopped her cause he knows who stubborn and protective she is for the people she loves. He said that ‘it runs in the blood’ , and laughed at it.
He started to make his way back HOME- no scratch that- there is no home now, there is no home without her.
Going back a pair of tear stricken red eyes met his similar ones.it was her middle brother Nathaniel, that boy was devastated and broken. Those once lively eyes where now blank. Nath’s eyes were fixed on his sister’s grave like he was still trying to process everything.
Lily was slumped against the tree, it was difficult for her to see her best friend like this. She saw her die and then saw her little left hope got crushed when Amy didn’t turn into vampire. She was broken.
Kamilah was trying to be strong but he saw it in his sister’s eyes that in a very less time Amy secured a special place in her heart and she was affected deeply by this.
Jax didn’t come to the funeral cause be said that attending it would force him to let her go and make it all to surreal for him.
The most difficult part was when they had to tell her family about what happened to her. He remembers that Nath picked the and it was on speaker. There was a 15 min silence on the line after they broke the news to them and the silence was broken by a heart wrenching sob and a huge crashing sound. Apparently Nath let out the sob and Chris threw the entire vine rack down on the floor.
It was easy for none of them.
Now Adrian had to deal with the next step that came after this 'GRIEVING' .
In the book we didn’t got to see much about MC’s family and past and i wanted to go into depth with it … so here i am .
Here , my MC’s name is Amy Richard Parker , who was born and raised in New Orleans , with a haunting past and a complicated family . She lost her everything in a blink and it destroyed her life . In hopes of giving her life a new direction she leaves her home and sets out for New York , but there are more things awaiting for her over there .
Then we have Adrian Raines , CEO of Raines Corps , who leads a dark life with no colours in it …. but that changes when he saw his new assistant …. he felt a sudden attraction towards her …. she is just a human to him but there is a lot more to her than it comes to the eyes .

Amy had to forcefully cut the call, in order to shut her brother and she new that this will make him angry. But she didn’t need a pep talk for not getting wasted in the club before her interview. She could handle her brother afterwards and the interview was important. She wandered here and there and settled on the bench. She felt like she is being watched from behind but didn’t find someone. Just then a stunning woman with an icy demeanor came towards her.
“Amy?” stern woman said .
“ yes that’s me “ she replied .
“I am Nicole Anderson, VP of operations at Raines Corp. I will interview you . “ she said .
Amy was surprised to see that she was going to be interviewed by someone so high at post but her queries were eased when she reminded her that they take their hiring process very seriously and she followed her in the conference room keeping her confident look .
“ now then. The Raines Corporation is a global leader in technology and innovation . Why exactly are you interested in being the executive assistant to our CEO ? “
“well…” Amy took a deep breath and continued , “ I’d love to help make the world a better place . what I admire most about the Raines Corporation is your dedication to global innovation and improvement. The clean – water initiative …the vaccine for the cerella virus …the green energy project… you guys aren’t just getting rich. You’re trying to help people, to make technology that’ll save the planet. I can’t think of anything better than being a part of that.”
“hmm……a good answer. A bit cloying , perhaps, but Adrian might actually like that “ Nicole said with an appreciative look.
Just as she was going to speak the next thing , the door at the back of the room swings open , and a handsome man in a perfectly – tailored suit strolls in.
Intelligence sparks through his eyes . He was extremely charming , with his black obsidian eyes assessing her , her already killer nervousness now peaked a whole new level.
“ Adrian I wasn’t expecting you…” Nicole asked unable to hide the surprise in her voice .
Adrian as in Adrian Raines …well all escalated very quickly for her .
“ I had a free minute. Is this the candidate ?” he asked taking the authority in his hands as he decided.
Professionalism and seriousness reflected in his voice .
“ yes …but I’ve just started the interview and—“ Nicole asked stammering .
“ I’ll take over from here “ he cut her off not wanting to take any excuses .
“……of course sir , go right ahead “ she surrendered .
Adrian sat across Amy , eyes burning right through her . He has never seen such a beautiful person in his entire existence , god knows how would she be as a person .
Amy’s nervousness grew even more when his eyes bore through her but she remembered once more , she is Amy Richard Parker and nothing in this world ever scares her , she remembered her brothers’ advices on professionality and confidence and recalled her dad’s proud thought about her and her mother’s loving smile . Now that was enough to calm her down , so she put on the brave and fearless smile again on her face and straightened her back.
“ Amy , is it ? “ Adrian looked at her and saw her hazel brown eyes which her so hypnotizing , with all his strength he prevented himself from being lost in them .
“ that’s right “ she said interrupting his thoughts .
“ tell me Amy , what do you desire ? “ he asked her and she was surprised at the question .
Amy was already so mesmerized from him that this question surprised her.
“ You mean ……why do I want this job ? Because I – “ but was interrupted by Adrian .
“ I didn’t ask why you want this job. I asked what do you desire . “ he asked seriously and professionally.
“ I desire ……PASSION “ she answered after thinking fir a while .
“ oh , really ? “ he asked , his brows raising , he was in true sense intrigued by her answer .
“Sorry , if that is too personal but I am just being honest . I want to feel deeply. I want to experience life , live every moment like my last. We never know when is our last moment , it is better to live our life to the fullest than to regret it afterwards . That’s what I desire “ she answered honestly and it was the true answer she saw what happened to her family everything was good and happy then suddenly they lost everything , she do not want to regret anything .
“ I can relate“ Adrian was impressed internally but didn’t expressed it. He supressed a smile to reach his face. He was truly impressed by her desire to live and feel and experience. He now looked at her resume .
“ lets see here … graduated college 3 years ago …masters in communication …interned at Mannon financial…volunteered in San Torbida and France abroad for a year “ he read out and again was impressed from her but wondered why it took her an extra year to sign up for this interview or for that matter any other one .
“ yep that’s right “ she said .
“ well , how was that tell me in three words “ he asked .
“ difficult. Enlighting. Rewarding. “ she replied easily .
“ good , this job can be challenging and unpredictable , are you comfortable running unusual errands ?”
“Absolutely “
I have been doing them since a long time now , she thought to herself , smiling .
“ Handling confidential information ? “
“ I can keep a secret “
You wont even realise how many I am keeping right now too , she thought again and smirked .
“ Working nights ? “
“ Always been a night owl “
Okay , I atleast told him one thing fully without strings attached , she smiled while thinking .
“ Good , Anything else I should know about you ? “
“ Hmmmm …… I have got WORLD CLASS people skills “ , she said with a proud smile .
“ Oh , really ? “ he asked with questioning eyes .
“ I was voted ‘ most likable ‘ in my high school class . Also ‘ most popular ‘ and ‘ best smile ‘ . Technichally you are not supposed to win in multiple categories , but I was able to persuade them . And also the cherry on the top I was the PROM QUEEN “ , she stated out all of her achievements proudly and remembered how happy and proud her father was to see her that day . She and her brothers has always been the brightest in the whole family , anyways. Suddenly feeling nostalgic and tears building in her eyes she averted her gaze on the floor.
“ Thus proving your point “ said a grinning and impressed Adrian , but he saw a glint of sadness in her eyes and he doubted that he saw tears too , and was unable to understand why counting her proud moments made her sad .
“ exactly” Amy said after controlling her emotions and forcing a smile.
“ one more question “ Adrian leaned forward hands folded on the table and with an intense expression , told her the story of a man who got a genie lamp and destroyed everything , and then finally asked her about what should his final wish should be .
“I think his final wish should be to undo his first two wishes “ she said after thinking for a while .
“because ?” Adrian asked curious to know her theory .
“ because he already had everything he could ask for a family and many friends …what could he ask for more it was more than enough …all he wanted or ever needed was right there in front of him …this is a story of temptation and greed …he should have never played this game …all now he can do is making things as they were before “
Her answer was something totally honest … Adrian glanced at her and then noticed how true each and every word was . she was not only beautiful but also quite intelligent …in true sense beauty with brains.
She was quite interesting too …Adrian personally never saw such a person in his entire life … and he needed to know her …he knew that it is a huge risk and a mistake but he already did that when he decided to interview her himself …now he couldn’t resist her … so then he does the only thing he could do …he knew that Nicole will be a big trouble after this but guess he was okay with that if it was what would keep this girl around .
Then he grins brightly at Amy and says
“ You’re hired “
“wait what ? …seriously “ Amy asked with wide eyes , she was surprised , how in world is it possible that someone gets hired so fast …this was weird to her … but of course she was happy .
Adrian left an inside giggle watching her surprised reaction …she looked adorable with those wide eyes …his smile grew even wider … and he extends his hand …which obviously she took .
‘ oh my god …his skin is impossibly smooth…and hold so firm …wow he is really handso-……no no no …stop brain stop thinking …no eyes …don’t look in his eyes for too long … fuck …, I am a disaster …stop cheeks don’t turn red …god please ‘ she thought .
Good god if god wanted to kill her please kill her in this exact moment …someone save her from this embarrassment …she was a disaster with wide eyes blushing cheeks …FUCK.
Adrian saw her flustered reaction which was by far the cutest thing he saw in his life … his vampire senses made her blushing cheeks clearly visible …the dark pink tint on her cheek made her impossibly adorable.
“welcome to Raines Corporation “ , he said with a bright smile
They made eye contact for just moment but everything stood still for that particular moment …it was mesmerising .
In that moment Adrian didn’t knew about Amy but he knew that they were going to go a long way .

Ever since the show down with Vega, everyone has become quite busy in their lives.
Jax was busy with settling down the shadow den that now they didn’t need to hide anymore and can come out in open, he was being accompanied by Lily, who enthusiastically took initiative with everything. Kamilah being her usual was busy.
Things became especially overblown at Raines Corps that now the post of the VP of the company was empty, with several more work to do.
It was a shock to everyone …. Well except Amy who always found something fishy about Nicole ... that she would betray them like this for being turned.
It never seemed to be known to Adrian that what time of the day it was, as he was so engrossed in his own work. Mostly he spent the day in his office or meeting clients and associates or attending the council meetings.
For Amy her days now seemed to be endless …. She worked at nights and rested in the day …. But now that disturbed too she was barely getting any rest …. With no VP the work load increased on her.
Though it was not the only thing she thought about … her mind used frequently wander to Nicole’s lifeless body in front of her, with a crossbow shot right through her head and herself covered in blood. It was still kinda hard to think that she actually killed someone but those thoughts seemed to fade away when she thought that she could to this again if it meant saving Adrian or helping him … hell she could do anything for him.
It was now evening and the had almost set outside, Amy was still deep buried with at least a dozen of files to go through.
Adrian was in his office finally relieved that the work for the day ended, it has been a busy day for him so he was content in seeing the progress he had made. He made his way out keen to see if Amy was free by now so they could grab a coffee together, he loved spending time with her and if the past few weeks have exhausted the hell out of him then it also bought them close to each other. Adrian was amazed to see that this beautiful girl was ready to risk her whole world for him, he never thought someone would do that for him … well of course except for Kamilah … this joyed him to another world to see that. He was now feeling things that he hadn’t since last century after he closed him off to this world. He was more than glad to have found her.
Adrian looked out and found Amy busy in her work with a frown on her face …. Cause why not, going through documents isn’t anyone’s favourite work... of course …. And dark circles starting to form under her eyes crystal clear visible.
Damn that girl is working hard …. Adrian thought to himself. Then with a sudden thought appearing in his mind , a smile pulled up on his lips. He straightened his tie and coughed to have Amy’s attention. Then imitating Amy’s accent and style he said ….
“Adrian … umm … sorry ...Mr. Raines can I have your one minute there are some urgent matters that are needed to be discussed …. “, he trailed off with a smirk on his face.
Amy heard him and looked at him for a while, giving him a ‘are-your-brain-screws-okay’ look, but when she got what he was doing she laughed and played along. Deeping her voice and imitating Adrian she said ….
“Of course come in … whats the matter love … ahem … sorry … Ms. Parker “, a smile plastered on her face.
Adrian’s smile even grew and he was now grinning wildly …. He again imitating her but this time pretending to swirl a lock of hair said ….
“Adrian you know it is really unfair that you work whole day you should take a break sometimes”, he exaggerated his tone and gave a fake pout like Amy.
After this failed attempt of him trying to imitate her, Amy burst out laughing.
“OMG… I swear I do nothing like that Adrian”, she said while laughing.
“Agghhh … Amy stay in the character … u are getting me out of it …don’t distract me … and by the way you definitely do that love”, he said.
“oooookay … so … where was I … ahem … so when there is work I gotta do it love”, Amy said with giving him a starry eyed look inspired by him himself.
“okay now there is no way I do that”, Adrian said
“Aggghh… Adrian stay in the character … you are getting me out of it … don’t distract me … and by the way you definitely do that” Amy copied him.
Adrian looked at her with a smirk on his face “ oh really you think you can do that “ .
“ I can definitely do that … and by the way do you know you are terrible at this Mr. Adrian Raines “ she said while she was dead laughing.
Adrian narrowed his eyes at her …. And of course she was completely unaware of his acting career. “you know nothing Ms. Amy Richard Parker”
Amy leaned forward now her chin resting on her hands “then do let me know Mr. Raines “
He smiled and leaned forward too …only to stumble over a pile of folders lying down on the floor. “are you sure about that Ms. Parker “ asked her raising one brow.
Amy let out a long breath and said “ on second note … no … I still have these two bunches to go through… I’ll see you later”
“your boss must be a jerk to give you so much work and make you work over time , you must hate him so much” Adrian said giving her a fake sympathetic look.
“you know you are wrong … my boss is the biggest cinnamon roll I have ever met and he is not at all a jerk in any way … and I work overtime on my own will and hold no ill thoughts about it … and you don’t dare to say anything like that about him … you have no clue what I might do to anyone who talked ill about him in front of me …and last but not the least I DON’T HATE HIM … I COULD NEVER HATE HIM EVEN IF I WANTED TO … HE IS TOO PRECIOUS FOR THAT “
“that precious “ he was looking at her now with real starry eyes.
“yep” she smiled and then her phone beeped “ oh shit … I have literally wasted 20 minutes “
“wasted ?” Adrian questioned her .
“ hey I didn’t meant that ... u know right …. Let’s get back to work” she turned her chair towards the desk but Adrian interrupted again …
“ hey look at me “
“ nope I know if I do … you will again distract me and I don’t wanna be distracted“
“come on “ he laughed
Then without waiting for her response he turned her towards him and captured her lips for a sweet and longing kiss and she kissed him back with as much love.
“ you are deliberately doing this to distract me and stop me from doing work , right ?”
“as always you are absolutely right and I guess it is by time you take some rest .... I will handle your boss if he makes some tantrums “
She looked at him for a second and then a bright smile appeared on her face … then she stood up and pushed him to sit back on her chair and kissed him this time.

It was the same old day , same Monday morning , and Adrian felt nothing special about it. For others everyday was a new day but for him it was the all same , nothing new. For the others with each and every passing day, the number of days reduced from the lists but for Adrian, with each and every day the number of days increased only.
He didn’t have any interest in the life he was living. He just lived for the sake of living.
Adrian watched as life continued around just like every day, from his office. He frequently thought about the safety of people he was responsible for. His existence as a vampire among all the humans was a thing he was always afraid of. He always dreaded that what would happen if his secret is revealed as it could bring a lot of harm to both the worlds. He always had to be cautious about his actions.
To Adrian, one of his major priority was the safety of all the employees of his company, as he was responsible for them. But after the recent incident he thought he was not doing his job properly. Though it has been a month since then but still, Emily’s screams as the feral attacked her, were quite fresh in his ears.
Emily Vaughn has been his executive assistant for past 3 months, and he thought that it was his responsibility. He always did his best but the things would still go south anyways. It was a good thing that she didn’t die or any serious injuries didn’t take place, but still he had to debrief her and send her away for own safety.
Adrian never tried to make connections in this world, he was oblivious to the pleasure of being loved since more than 100 years. Every time giving away his feelings brought him nothing, it only ended I misery and pain. He was always haunted by the memories of his family and his lover. He swore to never give his heart away ever again, after being left wounded two times by doing so.
He always wondered what could have happened if his family was alive, he could have seen his beautiful boy grow up into a handsome man , but fate had something else in store for him.
The day he was turned into a vampire was the worst of his, he didn’t understood why some vampires see immortality as a gift to them , to him immortality was a curse because living too long without the ones he loved is useless.
“Adrian …” interrupting his thoughts a voice came through the corridor. He turned to see who it was. As he expected it was Nicole Anderson, the VP of Raines Corporation.
Nicole was a dedicated woman and focused on her work. Adrian has been working with her for years now. She is also one of the people he truly trust. Even after knowing his truth of being a vampire , she stayed there. She was always stern which he despised the most.
“yes … “ he replied .
“ Adrian , the interview for executive assistant will begin today at 10.30 sharp , so --- “
“ok … you take it and let me know of the progress later on “ he interrupted her .
“okay…” she was taken aback on his sudden response , she might have thought that Adrian might want to take look at the candidates but anyways she was least bothered by these things , so she stormed out as she came in .
Adrian sighed and went out of his office . He was just going through the corridor and something caught his eye.
A small figure at the end of the corridor , just standing there and talking to someone on her phone , with a big smile plastered on her face. He neither had seen her before here nor she was any of his employees. But whoever she was , she was exceptionally beautiful with a professional attire and her flowing hair and that amazing smile that could win heaven. He was irresistibly attracted towards her. He heightened his senses to listen what was she saying on her phone and hid in the shadows.
“ Ya – ya I know…oh stop it …I am not a kid…” the beautiful girl said.
“ I know you are not a kid …because if you were I wouldn’t have sent you to Manhattan“ the man on the other side spoke . Adrian assumed him to be her father or her boyfriend .
“ Come on brother stop it …she is right …she is not a kid …and you didn’t even give so many instruction to John and Jenna when they left for school” another voice said .
“ya maybe because our sister is an even smaller kid , in the flesh of an 25 year old “ the first one shot back .
“ Excuse me brother …can you repeat what you just said “the girl said while attempting to be mad at him but at last giggling . But it sure as hell , cleared their relation and failed his assumption.
“ it is better you not listen to that one …” first voice .
“oh really …now I am even more intrigued “ the girl snapped back .
“ well well well …you can give me $1000 to keep my mouth shut , brother “ the second voice said .
“ how will it be, if I punch you to keep your mouth shut , brother “ first voice snapped back in mock sarcasm .
“ well well …what did I say about not murdering one another in my absence , brothers “ the girl said .
“ well… then remember to stay away from my euology “ the second one said.
They both laughed , Adrian assumed that it must be some inner joke between them , but watching that girl laugh mesmerized him. She did have a beautiful smile, and Adrian never admitted it but he did found her beautiful .
“okay okay ……now if you two five year olds are done …then let me say something serious to our little sister …now Amy …”
Oh her name is Amy
“…you listen to me carefully …now you will stay alert and if there is any problem you will call me and tell me everything ……and don’t you dare go to any other club – “ he was cut off again .
“ you cant bloody… restrict her from not going to clubs …that is not fair …she is not a minor …for god’s sake Christopher … she is effing 25 years old …you yourself said that “ the second one said .
Adrian kind of agreed with him.
“I swear… if you interrupt me once more… I will throw that laptop of yours and you yourself… out of this house” he warned .
Adrian understood that he surely does have some authority in their family and that girl was the youngest among them . She came out to be pretty sweet to him.
“ I love you , Nathaniel …I hereby promote you to the post of my most favourite brother now on “
“ I love you too sissy “ second one replied .
“ oh you two are going to be the death of me …now stop this nonsense …Amy listen …seriously this time …if I get to know you are getting wasted at a club in the middle of the night then I swear that I will deport your ass from Manhattan to New Orleans myself …getting--- “ he was cut off again by his sister this time.
“ hello…brother …I cant hear you …you are not audible to me “ she kept taking the phone away from her ear.
“no…don’t you dare do that Amy , don’t you dare cut the fucking phone …AMY “ the first one shouted but was late as she cut off the phone.
She let out a long sigh and continued to explore the place, then after taking a look at the place she sat down on the bench and waited . The girl must have got some alert senses , that she realized that she was being watched by someone and searched behind her but found no one. And he was smiling to himself at the look she got on her face after finding no one .
She was extremely beautiful , Adrian has never seen someone like her in centuries . There was an undeniable attraction towards her .
And in that moment he knew that he has to know her, moreover he needs to know her , but as he started to approach her , Nicole came near her and she followed her away. He got it that she was one of those candidates for being his assistant. He saw the look Nicole gave her , which clearly reflected that she was jealous of her and he knew that she will give her a hard time. So he followed them inside, putting on his most professional face and decided to take the matter in his own hands.

And i am extremely sorry for the delay i know this was supposed to be posted yesterday but i couldn’t ... with the new session starting there are a lot of preparations to do and this got delayed 😥
Amy stood in front of the mirror as she stared at her scarred shoulder which was highlighted from her off shoulder top .
She tried to forget all the things that happened in her life but this scar reminded her of everything …everything she wanted to forget .
She hated it for being there …and moreover how she got it .
She looked into her own eyes in the mirror and promised herself that today will be better .
Then she preceded towards the dining hall , really excited for the surprise that her brothers had for her .
She wondered that would they have in store for her .
She walked through they elegant hallways of the Parker mansion , the place where she grew up with her family.
‘no Amy …no Amy ‘ she scolded herself for dwelling in the past and put on brave smile for her own sake .
Then she came near the dining hall and was greeted by some of the house servants.
“good morning Simon ……good morning Mrs. Haversham “
They all nodded and smiled at her fondly .
She was a sweet soul they all loved and adored her.
She entered the dinning hall and saw her brothers already seated on the table .
Christopher and Nathaniel saw her and smiled at her lovingly and adoringly. They adored her for being so strong.
“good morning brothers “ Amy said to them .
“”good morning sunshine …did you slept well last night ?” Chris asked her .
“ I slept well …thanks to you two”
Nathaniel grinned “ our pleasure … sis “
Suddenly their conversation was interrupted by fighting noises of kids .
“ And here we go again “ Nath and Amy said in unison and rolled their eyes .
“ I said that it is mine “ said one voice
“no but I saw it first “ said the second
“but it has my name initial on it “
“no that J means …John not Jenna “
“no it means Jenna “
The little Parker twins were fighting over something again .
That day they were the only ones beside Christopher , Nathaniel and Amy , who survived . Unfortunately , their parents were not lucky enough . Samuel and Samantha died in the hospital after two days of being admitted. They made all three of them promise that they will take good care of them and not leave them alone . Samantha asked Amy to be the mother to those kids that she could not be . Never let them feel the absence of their parents. Three of them took the promise seriously , they look after them and raise them as their own . Sure there were days when those two kids miss their mommy and daddy , but they couldn’t do anything about it .
“I will go and see what it is “ Christopher said taking the authority .
They both nodded in approval .
“a bet of $100 that they fought on the new shirt their beloved and dashing uncle nathaniel bought for them “ nath challenged amy with a smirk on his face .
“I say they fought on the new video game their beloved and dashing aunt amy bought for them “ she smirked back
“and I say they fought on the new shoes their beloved and dashing uncle Christopher bought for them “ chris entered the room with both the twins in his arms , smiling and giggling .
“ damnit …it is not fair I am no way giving $100 to him …this is cheating “ nath cried
“ no one asked you to brother “ Amy told him .
“good now lets settle down for the breakfast “ chris said and placed the twins on their seats and gave them a kiss on their forehead .
“ good morning uncle nath and auntie amy “ both squealed .
“good morning love “ nath and amy both smiled charmingly at them .
They all started with the breakfast and then Amy spoke .
“So I guess john and jenna are going their school next week “
“yup…..they are …and I am sure they will enjoy it. “ Chris spoke enthusiastically .
“no …no…no …we don’t want to go …you are sending us away from you all we don’t want to go . “ jenna pouted angrily .
“yeah she is right “ john supported her .
“but you have to go love …you need to start your school “ Nathaniel told them calmly .
They both stopped protesting and understood him .
They all went through the breakfast and then john and jenna were departed to their room after giving cheek kisses to all three of them to prepare for their new boarding school.
“now dear sister …it is time for your surprise “ a grinning Christopher said .
“now this will be good “ Nathaniel joined him too .
“what have you two planned “ amy said suppressing her own smile .
“well dear sister you can definitely give me the credit of the idea of this surprise “ Nath said .
“and you can give me the credit of organizing it “ Chris said .
“Oookayy …” amy glanced and took the wrapped gift in her hands “ well lets see …what it is “
See unwrapped it and saw a bunch of documents and a congratulation card in Nathaniel’s handwriting . Her eyes widened when she realized what see was seeing . she glanced towards her brothers and found them grinning .
“Oh. My. God. Is it what I think it is ?” she was shocked to see it .
“yes dear sister , it is what you think it is “ Chris said happily .
“ will you care to read it out loud love “ nath said with a smirk on his face .
“it is a form of application as the post of executive assistant for ……” she took a deep breath and spoke again “ ADRIAN RAINES …the CEO of Raines Corporation .”
She stood their shocked and trying to wrap every thing in her head .
“ I cant believe what I am seeing . oh my god …thank you so much …so so much …brother…I can’t thank you enough for this…oh my god …I love you both …so so much “ She said happily with tears of happiness streaming down her face .
“ oh dearie …don’t cry …we knew you wanted to go for this …we knew how much you appreciated this company and their work and wanted to go for that interview for the assistant but couldn’t go because of what happened one and a half year ago …we knew it …so when Nath saw that article for the post he thought that you might want to take on …on that opportunity and try again …start over where we all left one and a half year ago . “ chris said taking her in his arms
“he is right Ames …you should take on this opportunity and start with your life again “ Nath looked at her expectantly waiting for answer but then spoke “ and before you say it let me clear it for you …I know you think that you cant leave us…it is your responsibility to be with us …and I know that dad gave you a big bad lecture on how you keep this family together and how it is you who bring us all together …and without you we will fall apart ………but know this that it is rubbish …we all are fine and not your responsibility... what we do with our lives it is on us …now we destroy it or make it heaven …it is on us and also john and jenna are going to boarding school which means they will be fine too and you don’t have to worry about us …you have to start over and make a life for yourself where you are happy and do not worry for other …so go and take this opportunity and go to New York .”
Amy and Chris were both wide eyed and looking at Nath like he is an alien from other planet because such a responsible speech coming from Nathaniel Richard Parker, the biggest laziest sloth on this planet is a heaven’s grace on them .
“ he is right …love “ Chris said visibly proud of his brother’s speech “ you should go “
Amy looked at both of them for a while and then spoke “ you know me so well brothers …but are you sure that you two won’t murder each other in my absence ?” she said with a smirk on her face
“I don’t know …but I am sure if he ever you will never write my euology because I know if u write it then it will be full of embarrassment “ Nath said laughingly and gained a punch from Amy on his shoulder .
“no sister we wont …if that is what you want “ Chris said with a smile .
“okay so then get on it …I am going to New York”
She said with a huge smile on her face and hugged her brothers . in that moment she was so lucky to have them .
