Last night's AdThink III event by Redbooks and the Advertising Club of New York showcased impressive presentations from startups GoChime, Citia, URX, Adventr, and Shareablee, all of which offered ways to address real challenges that marketers face.
I was so impressed judging the startup pitches that I wondered how I could possibly capture their essence? The closest thing I could come up with to an elevator pitch is haiku, so here you go -- all of AdThink III's pitches reimagined as haiku:
jaffe, share your juice
bard, host, startup BFF
plus solves tech glitches
GoChime ads marry
email, crm, social
don’t jilt email yet
new Citia cards
give snoop lion mobile buzz
puff puff pass retweet
u r URX
deep linked ads for mobile apps
w00t ROAS
goodbye the ochre
now choose your own Adventr
play, replay each vid
Shareablee pinpoints
what makes content shareable
easy fix: add cats

The second event in the ADTHINK series, co-produced by The Advertising Club of NY and Advertising Red Books and sponsored by Davis & Gilbert took place at the Ernst & Young offices last night. The room was packed with marketers, brand managers, agency representatives and budding entrepreneurs hoping to seem some of the latest startups transforming the adtech space and get a glimpse at what’s next on the horizon. Moderated by creator and host of the popular marketing podcast The BeanCast and Evol8tion’s SVP Chief Analyst, Bob Knorpp, the event featured a fantastic, all-star panel of industry executives and 5 cutting edge startups - Locket, AdCade, AdYapper, Crowdly, and SponsorHub. Each startup had the opportunity to quickly demo their product and answer some tough questions from the panelists and audience members.

Locket is an Android application that delivers ads on users’ lock screens and pays users to unlock their phone and view ads. Pioneering the “First Glance Advertising” space, Locket focuses on tailoring ads in the form of static images, mobile coupons or videos. Users can then use their earnings to buy items, donate to charity or cash out via PayPal. Locket has already partnered with Domino’s, Sears, and Milk&Honey and is a sure startup to watch!

As advertisers continue to throw media dollars at Facebook Fan acquisition, Crowdly takes a new approach at activating a brand's existing community; by identifying the power influencers, and providing actionable ways to active the "Super Fans" - ultimately re-stimulating the fanbase by ensuring the right people are given proper attention. This Boston TechStars grad has promising future - recently closing a nice round of funding to continue expanding their sales and marketing efforts. Brands, pay attention! This tool can make a huge impact on your Facebook business.

Adcade is the next gen rich media advertising solution providing full HTML5 services. This single solution creates and serves customized, engaging, cross-platform ads versus the typical adaptive ads and operates on a CPM based model.
