“What, uhm, are you reading?” Tommy asks, sitting down on the stairs that lead into the dropped down room. The barrier currently sat just outside of where Tommy sat, allowing Gordon the whole room, minus the small section. After he broke the device that controlled the hologram, he probably wasn’t going to be able to access that control panel again.
He mentally shakes his head, and turns the book over in his hands. “It’s a psychological Christian horror book. Christianity is one of the uh, religions on Earth—” Gordon looks up from the book cover, catching Tommy’s eye. It’s staring at him with its full curiosity, and Gordon looks back to the book cover. “—And there are these things called angels. They’re sort of, like— good people who’ve died, or something?”
Gordon continues on, explaining the book in what he hopes were simple enough terms. The translation device spits it back out for Tommy who’s nodding along as he explains. “What do they look like?”
“What?” Gordon blinks, staring up at Tommy. “The angels?”
Tommy nods its head — something it’s picked up from Gordon. He clears his throat, opening the book to show the official artwork in the book.
He faces the book towards Tommy as he speaks. “They’re… normally show themselves as humans, with these large white wings on their back,” Gordon explains, “but that’s not really their ‘true’ form. They aren’t human at all, but these rings and rings circling each other, with dozens of eyes and wings making up their form.”
Gordon looks up to Tommy during his explanation, staring intently as the translator rattles the translations out. “They don’t, uh, normally show themselves to normal people though. Only to like, prophets, and stuff. Important religious people.
When Gordon looks back at Tommy again, he has to do a double take.
She was angelic.
Literally. As soon as Tommy had finished hearing Gordon's explanation, she shifted her own form to look like an angel, taking parts from both the 'regular' angel description and the true form. She stood tall, four separate sets of pure white angel wings splayed out on her back, with dozens of eyes around her face. She also had a silver ring floating above her head, almost like a halo.
And she was glowing. Both literally glowing, a bright light surrounding her form like a real angel has touched down to be near Gordon, but also because of how happy she looked right now. "Did I get it right?" She asks, fidgeting with her hands. Gordon has to take a moment to respond, because if he didn't know it was Tommy in front of him, he would be losing his mind right now. He's never been real religious — always sort of been… unsure about the concept of a 'true god'. But sitting here, across from Tommy, it would have shaken him to his core. Hell, it was shaking him right now, his brain unable to process the fact that it's Tommy and not a real angel. He blinks as he hears the translator spit something out. "I hope it's okay, Mr. Freeman..! I took some creative liberties— and— and combined the two!"
"Oh, wow. No, you did amazing Tommy," Gordon shakes his head, unable to tear his eyes away. "I just… wasn't, uh. Expecting it."
