We got back to Koh Tao the next day and immediately started our advanced cert training. The advanced course was cool because we did 5 more open water dives, but each dive focused on a new diving skill or experience. The first two dives were all about neutral buoyancy (a breathing method that keeps you at a controlled depth in the water) and navigation. The second picture features Vicky trying to navigate using only her compass. We also got to use these sweet dive computers for each dive, which are essentially watches that tell you how long you’ve been underwater, how much longer you can stay down, how much time you should spend ascending, etc. We felt like pros, even though we were still just baby divers.

Every diver also has a log book, and you log each dive as you finish it, including notes and numbers like your actual depth and your bottom time (dive speak). This is partially for the sake of preserving memories, but it also provides evidence that you are an experienced diver, should you want to go diving somewhere else in the world.

The last three dives were new experiences- we went on a deep dive to 30 meters, a night dive, and a shipwreck dive on our last day. We did all 5 dives in two days, and then suddenly we were advanced. It went way too quickly and made us all sad to be done so fast. By the end of our advanced course I'd logged 10 dives, and I'm already schemin' about the next time I can add a dive to my log book (stay tuned).

Thailand

Once again it rained this morning, again I was in class so it didn't bother me. Unluckily it didn't clear up. We still went our 2nd and 3rd dive, really our 1st and 2nd cos the first was only shallow. I fucking loved it!! Only thing is it made me sad that I didn't dive in the Maldives :(, oh well guess I'll have to go again! My instructor said it's like one of the best places to dive. Ffs kess. To morrow we dive to 18m can't wait. Just walked 2 hours to the hospital and back to find out the pharmacy at the end of our road can do it. Bloody hungry now so I'm going for some food :D. Tell me should I do my advanced dive course???
