ADVANCED MAJOR PROJECT - FINAL ZINE
here is the link to my final digital version of the zine
Advanced Major Project - Final shoot
my final shoot for the project was at Yardworks graffiti festival at the SWG3 in Partick, i took hundreds of photos over the weekend but only some were relevant to my zine as only 3 of the artists painting are ones featured in it
these are the best of the digitals of the artists in my project.
I shot 6 rolls of film over the weekend so ill only include the contact sheets and the best images as there's a limit on each post.
these are the images which I think are strongest of the film shots
Im very happy I got some strong images on the last week before I hand my work in and I think that these images will be a great addition to the zine and will help to fill out the sections on artists who were potentially lacking in it.
Advanced Major Project - Mentor log Final Update
after deciding to make a zine for my final submission I sent Robbie over a work in progress copy to see what he though and he believed it was good and that the images worked well together and it flowed okay. only suggesting that on the interior page where I explained the project it was distraction to have the text on top of an image so I ammended that in my final version.
Advanced Major Project - Mentor log update
after my final shoot I sent more images back over to Robbie and asked him what he would exhibit if he were to pick from them.
these are the images that he sent me back.
some of the ones he had chosen were in my favourites list also and that helped me to decide on a few of the final selections for exhibition.
My final portfolio will contain most of them swell as I am submitting a zine as the final port folio which Robbie agreed was a better idea than trying to condense such a large project down to 10 or 20 images.
Advanced Major Project - Shoot 12
my final set of artist portraits were with Pizzaboy , one of the artists I shot who was painting in the paper factory images from a while back. he shares his studio with Guzler one of the other artists from the series, so I tried to shoot the shots this time at some slightly different angles as well as with on camera flash so that it wouldn't be a copy of the first shoot with Guzler.
I shot on digital and 35mm film for these images. the bellow are the digitals.
I quite like how these shots turned out, I think the flash was a good idea and really helped in what is quite a dull space.
these are the film images
im really happy with these images, they're nice and sharp and the colours turned out great. it was my first time using flash on film and I think that it was successful. theres a couple shots where the flash didn't fire but I think that especially in the wide shots it actually turned out quite cool regardless. I will most likely be using one of the film shots in my final selection either for exhibition or in the zine.
Advanced major Project - Shoot 11
My 11th shoot for the project was a reshoot of the cans from the previous one with some full cans added as well as some caps to put on some of them.
I think the added caps and cleaner can throughout add a good bit more variety to the set.
Advanced Major Project - shoot 10
these are my images from the studio shoot with the spraypaint cans
I really like these images and I think they could work well as chapter pages or detail shots for the zine however, I realised after the fact that it looks a bit strange that none of the cans have caps so I plan to reshoot them with some caps that I have at home as well as some of my cans that are a bit newer to hopefully add even more variation into the set.
Advanced Major Project - Shoot 10 bts
In my last class critique one of our lecturers suggested that if I were to do a zine that It might be good to do some studio images of some of the supplies used by the artists so I messaged one of them and asked for some of his old cans of paint that I could shoot for the images, he happily helped out and gave me some really old rusted cans as well as some newer ones so that I would have a range to shoot here are some of the behind the scenes of the studio shoot shot by my classmate at his studio.
